Can't find iron. :/

I haven't found a whole lot of iron lately, I have only found 3 in my entire playthrough in the game. I really need some new lenses for my MEG tool. Anyone that could give me some tips on finding stuff?

Hmm, I'm not sure how to direct you to iron since it is random, but iron shouldn't be any more rare than any other material once you get deep enough (which isn't very deep for iron).

Do this:

Make torches and and platforms (can make with dirt) and go down a hole. Place torches and platforms as you go so that u can get back out easily. You can reuse your mine the entire game.Keep going down as a main priority. If the passage or chamber ends, dig. Using your pick point the cursor at the block under your feet and swing away. Dont move or worry about what your hitting. Your guy will cut u a nice neat shaft while u simply hold the left mouse. If you need to go sideways crouch (ctrl) and use the picks right click swing. Doing this you can cut a 2 block passage pretty quickly. Obviously grab any needed ores along the way but dont get distracted. Once you make it to the 2nd background set your in the area you need to be in. Explore THIS area for iron, sulfur, salts, gems and rock deposits. Some rock deposits give nice pile of ores when broken. When you have what u need use your nice path to get out quicky and to return just as quickly later on.

When you have what u need from this area just go on down to the final underground background set and farm there the same way.

Yes but keep in mind u need to go DEEP to have a worthwhile mine. Keep digging until the background changes then explore caverns in that area. U will find a lot less bone and a lot more iron. Also with platforms u only need a single platform to jump on. Going the full width of the hole is nice but it burns a lot of time and extra platforms. Single platforms down one wall or the center work fine.

Find clay on the surface. Make bricks with clay by the fire. Make a smelter with bricks. Use the smelter to make your ore into bars to make the anvil and pickaxe
