Upgrade Materials - Can't Find?

unable to find certain materials for upgrade.
recipies for weapons and armor have many ingredients, however...

can't even get first armor upgrade because missing "holy pearl" or somesuch. but this item does not appear to be listed in the barracks glossary.

any tips for finding those rarer materials? do you need to grind certain dungeon bosses...?

when I played the game, not the Steam version I remember having to grind for some items from monsters, bosses, and sometimes mining certain areas from dungeons
When you upgrade your sword certain secret areas can be unlocked too, that lets you grind more

Another thing is that some new materials will show up at the store after certain story events too

If anyone is searching for "sacred pebble"s , it is the reward for donations at the church for 100 000 gems.
I was wondering where to get these for a long time before seeing them at the church.

You can get the sacred pearl by defeating the boss of the underground dungeon

I'm losing my mind trying to find Magical Devices. The item manual says they drop in the NE and NW dungeons, but full runs of both have turned up empty. Is there a specific monster I should be targeting?

Followup immediately afterwards: You can buy them from the vendor next to the adventurer training hall, lmao.

for Magical Devices. They seem to drop off the respawned bosses in the old dungeons. dont seem to drop all the time though. they respawn in the area where you destroy the devices for the story.

Magical devices can be bought from a vendor later on. The one in the central city with a brown hat. Sits outside upper middle iirc.
