How can i create a new COD2 multiplayer server?
I'm trying to create a new server. I set all the options that i want, and after proceeding, a "COD2 console" pops up with a lot of written information, and i just don't know what to do with this screen. I want to play with my friends only and they all use Steam. Can someone help me with tutorials or informations?

Hello, my name is Dan. Happy to help. Here's what you have to do.

1. Portforward your local ip. ( your ipv4 for your computer )
- You can find your IPV4 <IP> by opening a command prompt and typing /ipconfig
2. After finding your IPV4, write it down or write it in a notepad on your computer. Save it but dont do anything with it yet.

3. Download a program called "Make Cod2Server (v1.1). Here is a link: http://callofduty.filefront.com/file/Make_CoD2_Server;60621,

Note: This program must be downloaded due to the fact steam doesn't allow two versions of Cod2 to run which is required because when you start a home server and it opens the cod2 console, It counts as one Cod2 program running and if you try to start up Cod2 yet again than it says "Program already running".

4. After downloading the program, run it and install it. Don't worry its not anything that will harm your computer, but once you have successfully done this. An icon should appear on your desktop called Cod2 Server or something in that general area. That is your server, You double click it and your server will start up. However you still have to do STEP 1 before any of these other steps. You must port forward your IP in order to host the home server.

Now lets get to that port forward :D.

Port Forwarding >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Alright so to port forward, go to a website called Port Forward.

I took the liberty of directing you to the Cod2 Port Forwarding link, however you will have to select which router is yours. (Dont worry this does not compromise any security you have or at all)

Link: http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Call_of_Duty_2/default.htm

Alright, so you got that IPv4 IP that is yours? Remember, The process to find your ipv4 is "Command prompt - > typing /ipconfig (hit enter) - > Check your ipv4 and write it down.

After clicking the link to Port Forward that i gave you and you select which router you have, the site will give you instructions on how to port forward your IP.
Any further questions ask away.

First of all thank you for your time and for providing such a complete answer. It was very useful!

I managed to get the ports forwarded correctly. But i can not download the program MakeCod2Server; When i click on the link you gave me , the download is unavailable, and i can't find it somewhere else in the internet since all places give the same link to download this program. Do you have any idea if i can find this program in other source? And, if i don't install this program, can i just make the Call fo Duty Server running on a machine and play in another machine?

Sadly no not really. You would have to somehow find a way to install Cod2 twice using your steam account which steam would not allow. And your welcome! Any time, if you need help let me know. Glad you got the port forward successfully. Now, I can help you with finding the installation file for the program "MakeCod2Server". I will upload the program you need (MakeCod2Server) on to my 4shared. I will share it with you but only personally. Please accept my friend request and i will link you the program. Thanks!

If not, please contact me at a later but not quick point. Sorry I will be honest, im feeling a little ill and i will need time to get back on my feet to help further. I will be on tomorrow from 2-5 to allow a time range for an answer. This IS NOT a one time deal. I promise i will get back to you as soon as possible.

To create a server on the Internet must be assigned an IP(not changing). You can play on LAN through Hamachi.
If somebody will play cod 2 multiplayer add me
I've tried creating a server back in the glory days of 2007. It's difficult as fudge, so if you are able to create one you've got my respect. Oh, and i will give you a digital high-five aswell.

All you need to make a server is the " main " files and the pb folder, + the exe which you could find it by searching on google.... and a config.... you dont need to install anything.

I tried the above steps, but when i say start server, it tells me cannot find steam??
PauL Aug 6, 2021 @ 8:20am
For anyone still wondering, my friends and I have tried the above steps to no avail, however when stumbling upon a youtube video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnFh5PQd5VA
The issues were resolved and we were able to connect. Hopefully this has been as helpful to you as it has been for us, we've been trying for longer than I'd like to admit. Good luck.

Edit: It should be mentioned that the host, my friend who creates the server, has their ports forwarded, the ports necessary for CoD2 are:
TCP Ports
28960
UDP Ports
20500, 20510, 28960

If it still didn't succeed, the host could try disabling their firewall prior to hosting the server after all the previous steps have been completed. Good luck.

Hey Dan,

I downloaed the software 'Make server' but the link you provided is not working. So, I went to the website portforward and found the page which explains the port forwarding procedure for my chosen router.

However, I am not sure how to find WAN settings from my laptop. Could you help me with that as of how to get to the WAN and if I need to be connected with a LAN cable coming directly from router to my laptop or wifi could work too for making server ?

Thank you

You guys could also join my server which i set up a couple of days ago. I really would like to make it a place for cod2 veterans and first timers to enjoy the classic cod2 multiplayer without all the mods most other servers tend to throw at you. Please check it out. The server is called "ARSENALclassic". Just sort the browser list after names and it should pop up right on top. If you need help with troubleshooting or if fast downloads do not work correctly, feel free to check out the FAQ on the servers homepage (search for "CoD2 Arsenal Classic" on Google or join our Discord (the link is on the homepage as well). Would be great to find some people to bring back the life to vanilla or slightly modded multiplayer. Thank you.

the wan/lan is your static ip address for your laptop specifically. You need the Ip address of your laptop so you can port forward your servers ports through your router through your laptop. Windows Key -> Command Prompt(Admin mode) -> type "ipconfig /all" and find your IPV4.
