if your steam is installed under
C:\Program Files\steam
than close steam. and run it as administrator. after that reinstall cod2 into
C:\Program Files(x86) which is 32-bit (where cod2 is comfortably ran) and now this is no fix for cod2 yet. This simply fixes steams problem with the game in some form. Now, go to your cod2 folder located under C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common simply go back to C:\Program Files\Steam and find the file called "Steam.dll" and COPY ( NOT MOVE ) into your cod2 folder. So you should be looking at C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Cod2\ and paste the "steam.dll"
If it does not work, look for the other file called Steam2.dll and do the same process. Steam2.dll should be located in the same place as "steam.dll". let me know if it works.
