Call of Duty 2

Call of Duty 2

Multiplayer Startup issues
Hi, I just bought the Call of Duty World War II pack yesterday in the sale and I wanted to try Call of Duty 2 multiplayer but all I get is a black screen. Tried to close the game with Ctrl+Shift+Esc and Ctrl+Alt+Del nothing worked I had to restart my pc. Singleplayer works fine but multiplayer just black screen. Is there a way to fix it? @ 15 Jun 11:00am

FIX BY: KOOLGUY® (PT), @ 19 Jun 12:24pm :

Here is the fix, at least, it worked for me.
1- Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 2
2- Right click CoD2MP_s.exe and select Properties
3- Go to Compatibility
4- Tick the X in Exec. this prog. in compatibility for:
5- Change compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 3)

Note: To some people, it will work now, and you can launch Multiplayer, without doing the other steps. Or to other people, it will say "Failed to find Steam.". No worries, just follow these steps:

6- Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
7- Find Steam.dll and copy it.
8- Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 2
9- Paste Steam.dll there.
10- Enjoy your crappy ♥♥♥ 1.3v

FIX BY: Cesarty, @ 28 jul 1:18am :

Ok, I fixed it (well, I think so, I didn't have any crash for half an hour):

1 - Properties on Call of Duty 2 in Steam Library:
Verify Integrity of Game Cache and uncheck Steam Overlay.

2 - Go to Steam --> Settings --> In-Game and uncheck Steam Overlay.

3- Make the Steam.dll and Steam2.dll thing.
Copy both files from Steam folder to Call of Duty 2 folder. COPY, not PASS.

2 - Put DirectX 7 in options inside de game.
No Directx9 (it has some bugs), and of course nothing of Directx 10 because the game has a lot of problems with it.

3 - Properties of files COD2MP_s and COD2SP_s on Call of Duty 2 folder:
Compatibility with Windows XP SP3 and put both of them running like administrator.

4- Turn ON at least one microphone device (I put the others off):
Panel control--> Sound --> Recording Devices

5 - (I did this so I don't know if it's dispensable or not):
Connect another microphone or headphone to the computer on the usb port for microphones.
Usually people have two, one green where you put your headphones and another like pink where you put your microphone. (I put another headphones on the pink and it worked... so I think it doesn't need to be a mic)

Also I found that some people fixed it by turning OFF all de Recording Devices, but when I did that, I ran the game and instantly I had the problem with COD2MP_s stopped working or something like that, so I turn ON only one microphone device on Panel Control-->Sound and everything was ok.

Well, hope this works for someone else. If I find more solutions I will put them here.

Sorry for my bad english.

This is what I get, and I have Windows 7 64Bit Home edition..

---> On Panel Control --> Sound --> Recording Devices

Check "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconnected devices".

Do you have all the devices in OFF? I had them OFF and I had the same problem as you have. I changed one of them (the microphone) to ON and the others to OFF and then it worked perfectly. Also if you have one device called Stereo, enable it.

---> Another fix that I said a few messages ago is just plugging in your mic or another headphone into the front panel connector.

--> If all that things didn't work, try:

Run as administrator, give explicit permissions in firewall for cod2mp.exe, pb ,etc.
Running in "safe-mode"?

--> UAC --> set to never notify

--> Also I found that some people ran the game with Compability Windows XP SP2 instead of Windows XP SP3. But I think that this won't work.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's so sad that this spectacular game has a lot of problems today and a fes years ago it had a few only.

It works now! I did the: Open Control Panel, Goto Sound, Then goto Recording link. Then clicked "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" When I was their, their was Microphone device, line in, then when I clicked "Show Disconnected Devices" Stero Mix showed up. I clicked enable Stero mix.

And boom what do you know? It's working all of a sudden.. So let me say Thank you for your due dillengence for trying to help others.

Try this:

1. Go to this page --> http://www.dllsuite.com/ --> http://www.dllsuite.com/Download.html

2. Download the program with costumization installation to avoid some stupid adds.

3. Follow the instructions in the web to repair dll problems (I think you have 3 guides there)

If that didn't work, tell me here and I will try to find another solution to your problem.

Oh hell yeah! It's work for me! Many thanks you Cesarty :numberone::squirtheh:
