Can I use KEY to play CoD2 on Steam

I have the game (6 discs) with the 20 digit long key code. Instead of installing that version, can I download it from Steam and use my code (without paying obviously)?

you can play on steam in the only way if you activate it whit a steam KEY, or buy it. but no matter what method do you do, steam will generate a cd-key for you and you are softlocked to use it because everytime you launch the game it sets it for ya

product keys of CoD 2 (coming with retail DVD & booklet) cannot be activated on steam client. the same also applies to CoD 1, 4 and WaW retail keys.
