I am at a loss. Anybody from Steam wanna explain why you are still selling a broken game that doesn't seem to run on Win10/11.
Some dude on other post figured it out - this works for me:
"Game wouldn't boot for me, so I tried with DXVK and it worked fine, finished first mission without issues, worth trying if you're having issues. 1080p 144hz smooth as butter
Download latest dxvk-X.X.tar.gz from github:
https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases
Open dxvk-X.X.tar.gz with 7zip or equivalent, extract the following file;
\dxvk-X.X\x32\d3d9.dll
Place said file in the same folder as the executable:
\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 2
(right click, manage, browse local files)"
To be fair, it seems like most of the people saying it doesn't work are using Windows 10.
Nah, that didn't work.
You know i play a lot of older games from time to time and it does seem like Windows 11 runs these more reliably from the get go compared to Windows 10. Could be me being lucky but i think it might be more compatible with older software for some reason.
But what happened suddenly to my COD 2 install, i dont know.

Same here, it worked after I downloaded d3d9.dll and put it in the same directory.
