Direct x error

Hey all, so this started happening recently, (might have something to do with me installing a small stats screen, but who knows) when I'm in cod2 mp, and minimise the game, using the windows key, and then click back on cod2 in the taskbar to get back into game I get a black screen with a direct x error.

Apart from that it works perfect, any ideas?

I don't think it's due to DirectX version you have on your PC, as the game is pretty old. still, you can download the most up-to-date DirectX version from internet (preferably from microsoft site), and then install it. if that didn't help, you can switch the "rendering method preference" found in graphics settings, between DirectX 7 and 9, for trying both options. if still no luck, you might consider deleting that custom mod, to see if it's the cause of DirectX errors. this game is infamous for incompatibities with newer operating systems, but honestly I can't remember many DirectX problems, so I personally believe it's the stats screen's fault.

I've switched between dx7 and 9. Same problem. I've made sure dx is upto date, same problem.
I'm running aida64 on a small 5" stats screen. I am also beginning to suspect that as well.
Thing is, another clan member, is using nearly the same setup as me, including aida and screen, but his works perfectly. Go figure.
I will disconnect the screen before I next play, see what happens.
