PS4 gamepad compatibility
I use DS4Windows from http://dsdcs.com/portfolio/software-development/4-ds4windows so that my PS4 controllers read at Xinput Xbox 360 controllers.

At first Castle in the Darkness did not detect the connected controller, but as others have suggested for regular Xbox 360 controllers, I had to set one as a "preferred" device under the Windows joystick control panel (Win+R -> joy.cpl -> Advanced). I haven't had to do that with other games so far, but it did the trick.

(Running Windows 8.1 x64)

MotionJoy can also emulate Xbox drivers from a PSX controller

MotionInJoy is also horrible malware. Dualshock 4 is definitely the way to go. Ditch the PS3 controllers!

What lol, why would you buy an expensive new controller when you don't need to. Also yes MotionJoy contains advertising in the configuration page. ofcourse because it's free and people want to make some, even if only a little money out of their software. That does not mean its Malware, someone needs a dictionary

In fairness there do appear to be a lot of reports of people experiencing browser hijacks after installing MotionInJoy.

The DS4 touchpad is handy if you're playing from the couch on a TV, and a game needs occasional mouse input.

Hmm well I didn't have an issue.. If I had a dollar every-time someone called a piece of software without a certification licence a virus I could be a millionaire :3. What I am trying to say is people download questionable things all the time and perhaps just blame the latest thing they downloaded for f@#king something up. They may have malware these days I downloaded it a long time ago.

I have used the PS4 touchpade and I honestly didn't like it.. itssss really smalll :3. I much prefer the WiiU controller for touch screen input

MotionInJoy is crap and malware, avoid it at all costs. Plus new versions have an always on drm.

What used to be good has turned to ♥♥♥♥.

I know it's an old thread, but for everyone using ds4windows, motioninjoy etc... just don't, this game doesn't need it, it just has two buttons and they are mappable from the menu, works just fine without having to use external programs

Yeah, it's just surprising that the DS4 works without needing something like InputMapper.

Frankly, I just got an Xbox One Controller and the Wireless adapter for Windows 10.

Works amazing.

I love my ps4 controller but was thinking of getting a steam controller. Does anyone know if it is worth it?

Not worth it.

I just wanted to mention that I switched from using PS4 gamepads with InputMapper to Xbox One gamepads with the wireless adaptor. The experience is nicer IMO, though I do miss the PS4 touch pad for some things.

Can you even USE a damn controller? It isn't acknowledging my ps4 controller with or without inputmapper.

Stop trying to shoe horn a Playstation controller onto a windows platform with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥, hacky, driver.

Just buy an Xbox One controller.
