- the painting in the museum (ares gloves) is from Ghostbusters II. It's Vigo.
- also in the museum: The "Yashichi" from Capcom games (NES + SNES + Arcade)
- in the final castle area (near the end behind a false wall) you can find a picture of a vampire sitting on a throne (maybe Castlevania or Kid Dracula (NES).
- the faries say "Hey listen". It's from the Zelda series (the annoying Navi).
- The layout (false trap blocks) and color scheme of House of Ruth is the same as Castlevania II (NES).
- The "Book of the Dead" and the cabin in the woods with a "cellar door" on the ground. It's from the movie "Evil Dead" 1981.
- the electric underwater plants and the color scheme are from Turtles (NES). You can see the shells on the floor and the character says "OK".
- in the prologue: "it's a horrible night to have a curse" from castlevania and the ending dream scene from either Nemo (NES) or Mickey Mouse (NES).
- Many enemies are inspired from the Castlevania series (like the battle against your doppelganger with the portal in the background from SOTN).
- the painting in the castle entrance "Praying Hands" is from the famous german painter Albrecht Dürer (21 May 1471 – 6 April 1528).
- in the House of Ruth there's a trap gap with a spike floor. You can see the infamous "Trollface" on a picture.
- In new game plus+ are some easter eggs. I won't spoiler them here.
"I am an error."
This guy appears in a little house in Zelda 2 from NES.
