If you've uninstalled the complete ATI/AMD Catalyst driver package you need to install the most up-to-date ATI/AMD driver package from here: Link[support.amd.com]
There are a few older ATI video card models with broken OpenGL drivers in the most current driver packages available for these models, but these are quite old models like the ATI Radeon X1*** or X*** series.
What ATI video card model are you using?
timoj80 probably did what I suggested and installed the most current ATI/AMD Catalyst package directly from AMD.
@Gman272:
A few questions:
a) Do you get the "Missing or Broken open GL Drivers detected, reinstall GPU Open GL drivers" message? Just asking, because the most common display problem with Windows 8/8.1 comes without this message.
b) What video card/chip are you using? Can you post the manufacturer and model name/nr.?
c) What happens if you try to install the driver package fpr your video card? Is it aborted with an error message (if yo please post the exact message)? Or does is quit in a different way (if so please describe it)? Did you download the driver package directly from the video chip manufacturer (NVidia, ATI/AMD or Intel) or from the manufacturer of your system?
That some games work while others don't isn't that surprising. The Windows default drivers (the one Windows installs automatically) come with support for DirectX, but only with very basic/obsolete support for OpenGL. So games using the video routines of DirectX (Direct3D, DirectDraw, etc.) for their graphics will work while games using OpenGL (like BS5) won't. So if the installation of a video driver package fails the default drivers are still in use and that explains the behaviour.
