+1. I had the same problem when i have restore this model.
same issue yeah, the handbrake just doesn't exists
I'm pretty sure its meant to be used to drift the car instead of being used as an actual handbrake

No, its clearly broken. Even if it was meant for "drifting" there's no indication to the player whether or not the brake is on. Every other car has 2 sound effects for on and off, the GTR has the same sound for both on and off. This will result in tires being destroyed by driving with the brake on unknowingly to the player, with out having to constantly look down and make sure the E-brake didn't get accidentally engaged.

Also, for 'drifting" the e-brake needs to lock up the rear end to induce a slide. This brake cannot lock the rear, ever. So even if it is meant for drifting its still broken.

If you are turning it very clearly causes the car to slide. It also has different text for applying the handbrake. I believe it says loosen and tighten only for that handbrake whereas the others all say disengage or engage handbrake. The mechanic isn't great I'll admit, but this game is still early access and will have some things to workout. There are larger issues that likely need solved before refining things like this.

Right which was my point, if this brake is meant to be different its still broken. A brake in a drift car and an e-brake function the same, minus the brake locking itself on (or using hydraulics over cable applied braking). The car itself would still have a functioning parking brake.

These roads aren't setup for drifting in any meaningful way, there's too many straight road sections, or slight bends, and too many hills. Neither of which would you really drift down.

On top of all that, the car still needs to be able to be parked, especially on hills. In the current state that brake only serves to ruin the players tires. In a car that only gets tire spawns when the entire car spawns, unlike the truck / mustgoat / Dada which you can find tires for at almost every stop. (sorry side tangent). My point is it needs fixed. the player needs clear indication its on, currently there's no indication without looking down to visually verify. No other vehicle let's you drive with it on.

Maybe add a brake in that you can attach to the car that changes the brake to be useless, but the stock brake, should be stock... and function like a normal brake.

However I feel, and seems like their Discord agrees, the brake is broken and non-functional at the moment.

Honestly it seems to work exactly as the devs intend at this point. I don't have any issues with the GTR rolling away. Honestly I use this parking break on a lot of cars because I find it more fun. If you don't like how it works use a different handbrake. if you're going for the achievement the put the correct one in the trunk until you have all of the rest of the parts.

Weird, says its a "known issues since last patch" on their discord. So seems they feel its broken too.

Also me liking it or not has no bearing on brake functioning like a brake is supposed to. As I said already, a brake for drifting still needs to lock the wheels, this one can't, and the player still needs indication of the brake being on or off without having to look down and check while driving. All other cars have 2 sound effects for this reason. Ergo... its broken.

Works fine for me and I'll be sad when they change it. I'll continue to enjoy it while I can!

Which is why I suggested a secondary brake lever. One which functions like w/e this one is, and the stock one which should be, by its name, stock. Thus fixing something broken, AND giving players a choice over which they'd like to use.

Also, from a mod post on discord

This one is in the list to be fixed. Other hand brakes work, GTR doesn't - thank you 🙂
