Thanks. Good to know. Going through Steam discussion looks like it's not the first time.
Hello everyone,
We want to give you a quick update regarding the recent temporary removal of Drive Beyond Horizons from the Steam store.
Earlier this week, our game was targeted by a DMCA takedown request regarding the use of a music track. We want to clarify immediately that:
🎧 The music used in our game is fully original and built using royalty-free samples from Splice, a platform that allows commercial use for all licensed users.
The claim appears to be based on the fact that both our track and the claimant’s track share the same royalty-free sample, which is allowed and legally used by countless creators.
We have already submitted all necessary documentation to Valve, including:
Proof of our Splice subscription
The original sample used
We are working hard with Valve to resolve this situation as quickly as possible. In the meantime:
✅ If you already own the game: you can still play it as normal
❌ If you’re trying to purchase the game: the store page is temporarily hidden due to the claim
We expect the situation to be resolved very soon and the game to return to the store. We deeply appreciate your support and understanding during this time.
Feel free to reach out to us on Discord, by email, or right here if you have questions.
— Drive Beyond Horizons team
Depends on whether a false DMCA complaint is indeed the reason for the store page being pulled this time around. A day or two I mentioned how claims of dynamic weather, biomes and wildlife on the store page could land the devs into trouble if they don't work to get advertised features into the game pronto. Valve don't take kindly to stuff like that.
The devs also need to get their act together in terms of keeping their storefront updated, which will also help avoid speculation and guesswork. I really hope they are not one of those scammy devs that abuse Early Access for milking commissions on Discord. Trying to monetise communication for an Early Access game is really scraping the bottom of the barrel, and far too common these days. Just because gamers are commercially gullible doesn't mean it should be taken advantage of.
