Stacking pallets is a lot of work.
The pallet jump works for me most of the time now, since I figured how the "physics" work: Put down a board perpendicular to the intended jumping direction, place the mid of a pallet square to the board a bit offset to the far side of your intended jumping direction (looking from the side the longer side of the pallet should be towards intended direction) then stand over the far side of the board and grab the board. If you jump too short make a step farther away from the board towards the opposite of intended direction, if you jump to far, get closer to the centerline of the board.
A ladder of some funny drone elevater would be a nice touch.
True.
I figured out last time jumping on the roof at the garage that the "jumping mechanic" is Pretty the same like in garrys mod or half life.
Just crouch jump and it will be a lot easier jumping on edges, air condition at the wall etc.
Fireworks can also be used. They sometimes spawn at gas stations.
You have:
The flying pallet trick: Put a pallet on top of a board, step onto the pallet and grab the board. You need to place them perpendicular and tight to the center, stepping a bit to one side influences the direction.
The trampoline: You need to place it close to the wall/roof. Jump a moment before bouncing so that the bounce and jump adding up and giving you enough height to fly over roofs. Direct your landing by using w/a/s/d.
Car seats: Car seats mounted to external car seat holders ("magnetic grille") allow you to "enter the car" without being mounted to a car. Lift the seat/holder combo onto a wall (left side of the garage on top of the bench it is no jumping, just working overhead, behind the beer bar use the dumpster for height). Place the seat facing to the right, then "enter the car", and "get out" to the left and you're standing on the roof. This is my preferred method bc. it is simple, therefore quick and reliable. Downside: If you forget to take the combo with you seat and holder may be gone when you need them next time and you won't notice the absence until you need it. Make it a routine to throw them down to your car first thing when you're up there.
Roof rack: Put some pallets with overhang onto a roof rack and position it diagonally to gain height. At some places you can just jump from the "stairs" on others you might have to move it up a bit (for the motel use the fence in the backyard to get to the top and trash to get onto the trash bin and fence).
Use the IFA cabine and stack stuff onto it. A diagonal board from the frame to the rear of the cab gives access to the cabin roof if you don't have a roof rack or loading bay mounted to the IFA. Or combine with the car seat trick.
Using a pallet ladder. Somebody in the forum lately showed some staggered stacking of vertical pallets against a wall as a "staircase"
If you use your creativity you also may come up with different solutions. Think of a vertical IFA wheel on top of a car body at a radio tower. It's just a board that goes from there to the top of the radio cabinet door and a small jump... there are so many ways you can solve this "problem" that I prefer that the devs rather not interfere with it any more (for they might remove some of the above mentioned options ...)
What this guy said. I figured it out a couple days ago but I lost the post till now and he beat me to it. Works 100% of the time.
Dude - thank you SO MUCH!!! I've been waiting for someone to discover, and then share, a reliable way of getting onto rooftops that doesn't involve screwing about with vending machines and dumpsters and stuff. This works, flawlessly...
