Drive Beyond Horizons

Drive Beyond Horizons

This vs The Long Drive?
Hey everyone!

I've played the demo for a little bit, but so far it just looks like the same game as The Long Drive, just slightly more polished? I fail to see what this does differently, so perhaps somebody can enlighten me?

Why do we have to enlighten you if you played the demo? Will it change your mind? The enlightenment comes when you realise you don’t need to compare games. What you failed to say was whether you enjoyed playing the demo. Buy it and find out for yourself, if you don’t like it, refund it and continue playing long drive.

I am merely interested in what arguments there is to buying this. Sometimes getting other opinions can help see things that I might have missed. I liked The Long Drive, I also enjoyed the demo, but I just fail to see why I would buy it if its the same thing with new graphics.

1. multiplayer mode
2. graphics
3. optimization
4. more car tuning
5. weather and the changing seasons

I haven't seen all this in The long drive

Well, even the demo version of this game already looks much better than the long drive, which has been in development for 6 years.

You haven't seen multiplayer?
Seasons and car tuning sounds like a reasonable difference that might make me try it out.

I feel like you want to buy it but want people to tell you not to. Peoples opinions don’t matter including mine but maybe Go back to the fact you said you enjoyed it, if you like variety in gaming buy it. Hope that helps.
As someone who has had his hands on the Early Access build, there's a lot more content coming with EA

Multiplayer in TLD is a joke. Unplayable.

That wasn't the point..

Without all the gamer tribe nonsense, the reason you might be interested in this title over TLD is because TLD devs have obviously abandoned that project. It’s been well over a year and no updates to TLD. So maybe this one isn’t a cash grab is kinda what you hope for.

then what was? it's locked behind a beta branch and is completely unplayable, so it might as well not be in at all

TLD devs are trying to rewrite the code, which they famously described once as something like a forest of spiders hissing at you, or something to that effect.

Ok. So. My 2c.

The basic game loop mechanic is roughly similar, however DBH offers a few things out of the box that TLD doesn't.

Pros for TLD:
World feels more open/less cramped
Resources are more scarce so more difficult
More vehicles and variants thereof
More firearm variety
Pure Slavjank

Cons:
Multiplayer runs like a shaggy goat in a blackberry forest, ie not well
Modding it involves LIVE CODE INJECTION FFS
Updates are glacial
Pure Slavjank

Pros for DBH:
Unreal engine looks gooood
More parts, turbos etc.
I'm assuming modding it does not involve giving your antivirus software a heart attack
Permadeath/Ranking makes it less casual than TLD but more incentive to drive on
Better sound

Cons:
World feels somewhat more cramped
Currently feels more unbalanced in terms of resources v usage
Not much vehicle variety as yet

I didn’t think the post was rude. It’s pretty logical. Play demo > do you likey > if no dont buyey > if yes buyey..

That was being a ♥♥♥♥. =]
