The Way is the Goal you dont understand the game i think complete the vehicle and drive in hard mode as long as you can. ;)

You can do it take all your fluids with you on your road and get the Rocket launcher with you for the UFO. In Strange World Mode. In infinite mode you cant complete the game you have to survive and drive so much Km as you can. ^^ And Restore your Vehicle Guy´s it makes so much fun 600 km+ and maybe if you lucky you can restore 2 vehicle :)
