ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN

ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN

Second map
How COOL would it be if they made a second map that was basically a randomly generated combination of many of the castles they've created throughout the souls series and elden ring included? Instead of an open field it's just a giant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ castle with many different castles all connected together? That would be boss. They've built so many castles throughout their history shame not to see that put to good use

Doubt that there will a castle only map. That wouldnt work with the circle and the flying around stuff.
At this point, anything to enhance the variety could win me over. Right now it looks like a major dud, for me!

If they add PvP I would buy in a second, and invade all the co-op groups. I am actually surprised they do not have such an important balance feature.

It’s a roguelite. The entire point of those games is to replay the game countless times. They rarely have any big variety and as far as enemies go I’d say Nightreign is genuinely going to be one with the biggest variety yet.

Binding of Isaac. Hades. Risk of Rain. Just to name a few. Zero PvP and in most cases there isn’t even coop at all.

PvP would absolutely not work at all with how the game has been designed currently and I’m glad they are staying away from that for a change. We already have PvP in every other souls game.

Hi CSand, hope you are well.

I think Nightreign actually lays the perfect groundwork for it, because it solves common complaints about PvP:

1) There's no way to twink.

2) There's no way to min/max and super-optimize a PvP build, because they give pre-made classes.

3) There's a reasonable time limit in each session.

4) The constantly shrinking arena would have made it so people can't just lol chameleon and hide for 34 minutes.

It actually would have been fantastic!

Hey hope you are well too! 😎
I totally agree it would be fun. In fact a souls style arena battle like this with the shrinking border sounds absolutely incredible.

...But I don't agree the lack of it is a terrible decision necessarily. The guy who is directing this game has a clear goal in mind of a coop roguelike game

But I do love some pvp 👍

Edit: but let's imagine
- pvp mode
- random bosses roaming the land
- shrinking border
- start empty handed, have to scramble for loot
- ffa or team modes

The major thing would be From would need to get their netcode up to par. The weird stuff they did in Elden Ring adds latency. I am hoping they address that with this game tbh

Yeah, more like a VERY HUGE missed opportunity. Heck, like you suggested in another thread, even a PvP mode would have been great. Kinda like in Street Fighter, there's casual matches and ranked. There could have been casual and PvP. That way people can learn the game, then jump into PvP modes if they wanted after they understand the flow.

The potential is just lost, didn't ER sell something like 12 million copies? If they made something truly compelling and even got half of those players back, it would have made for a fun time!

I edited my last post to expand a bit

Great point about the netcode. Even in the pre-release stuff, I was seeing the usual odd rubber-banding and other glitches that always occur in P2P connection.

I know people are against live service games, but boy would I enjoy a good PvPvE experience by Fromsoft with a dedicated server.

could change it up a little and make it a gauntlet. maybe like....you earn some kind of income from the first map that you can use to buy stuff in the castle to fit your build but not allowing you yourself to be overpowered and then you run through a guantlet of mini bosses and big bosses. basically i just want a souls like game where you explore a giant castle fighting boss after boss

I second this vote for castle exploring/dungeon crawling Fromsoft game, would love to see their take on something like that.

What a bunch of nonsense.

You say because a game is part of a genre it HAS to 100% stick to some imaginare "rules". Like game x y z has no pvp and its a roguelite - nightrain must be exactly the same and stick to the rules, because its kinda "roguelite'ish".

You have no clue what you are talking about. Only because PVP does not fit into Hades or XY it doesnt automatically mean that it does not fit into Nightreign. Isnt nightreign that big experiment of fromsoft?! So why dont go crazzy with it and put PVP in a roguelite? No, of curse not.. not experimental enough for such crazzy atempts right?

In my opinion PVP would be the only thing that would keep this game alive longer then three months. Why? Because it offers nothing new, special or anyting interesting to keep people going. There is no competition, no complex progression - nothing. You defeat the 8 bosses and then you literally have NO GOAL that drives you to play further. There isnt a ton of fun and crazzy stuff to unlock like in Isaac or Hades. The network test showed what we can expect from this game - and it was not much.

I dont know if you have some sort of crazzy crystal-ball telling you that there is massiv unknown content to come - or its only your wild imagination. I prefer to stick to what i saw - and it was not impressiv at all. It was a bunch of random stuff we all already know (and bought) mixed up together and thrown at us again.

Maybe you should take off your fanboy glasses and stop trying to nip in the bud everything that doesn't conform to your crude ideas.

Sorry of the offtopic.. but im tired to read this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ again and again.

They made chalice dungeons - so they should be able to create some random castles too and put them into the world. Hopefully they come with something like that and dont place castle Morne two times on every map.

Nope. Didn't say that and didnt even remotely imply that but thanks for reminding me why I usually just ignore your comments.

The person I was replying to was talking about variety and i was merely pointing out that roguelites live from repeating the same content over and over again. That's the whole thing about those games.

Again, not saying it can't have PvP. Just saying it doesn't need it.
Sure they could go "crazy" with it and try to make it work but that'd mean they'd have to put more time, money and manpower into something that isn't really needed since the entire focus is on teamplay. PvE. Not PvP.

I just don't see how that could work properly while making it fun at the same time. Especially since you guys already have PvP in literally every other souls game from FromSoft while coop has always taken a back seat.

Yes. PvP games will always outlive PvE games which is why games such as Dota, LoL or CS are the most played games of all time.

So what? So what if people "finish" nightreign and move on? It's not a live-service game anyway.

Also there is no significant progression in Hades either other than beating the game over and over again to unlock more endings until you hit the true ending. The actual progression with weapons and such is not that great but the game itself was still fun. Why? Because the gameplay ruled. Which is most likely going to be the exact same case with Nightreign on top of it having coop.

The rest is your subjective opinion which we already gotten more than enough of ever since this board went live. It's clearly not a game for you, which is completely fine. Armored Core is not a game for me so I just ignore it. I am still excited about new FromSoft games. Wild.

FromSoft have always, ALWAYS locked most of their content away for their Network tests.
Same happened with Elden Ring. Turns out they locked like 90% of the content away. And FromSoft also have a habit of underselling their games. Same happened with Elden RIng. Same happened with its DLC even.

I'm being optimistic but sure, waiting is always the best thing to do no matter what company. Which is precisely why I haven't pre-ordered it myself (pre-ordering stuff is always a bad idea anyway). While you are very clearly on the other side. You are being pessimistic about it. Which is fine.

I love how you are unable to make a singular comment when someone is excited about the game without calling them a fanboy.

I am not a fanboy. The games hasn't even released yet. I played the network test, I enjoyed it and I am excited about the full release.

I merely explained why it doesn't need PvP. That's it. That's all I did and that was apparently enough for you to attack me out of nowhere. Yeah I definitely should just keep ignoring your comments but oh well. Maybe some day you'll be able to properly discuss anything here without attacking people.

VERY rich coming from you considering you keep repeating the exact same thing over and over again across multiple threads.

You are a fanboy - because you cant leave one single negative - or even sceptical - post about this game unanswered. Even if the points are valid. Even if someone showed up and would say "i dont like the name" you would be there to tell him "naaaahaaa the name is perfect because blablabla". How would you call that if not a fanboy?

Look.. you even contradict yourself in your own post. Hades has no point to finish it more then one time besides of... DIFFERENT ENDINGS THAT LEAD TO THE REAL ENDING. What?! Are you for real? Different Endings is one if not THE most common thing which brings you to start over again.

Does Nightreign has Different endings? Does it even have ONE Ending? Does it have a meaningfull Story at all?

Further.. so what if people finish and move on. Dude its focused on MULTIPLAYER COOP... it does not work if no one is left to play with. Isnt that clear? We dont know how it will feel to play as solo but im sure the experience is not as good as in a trio because its developed that way.

I will make a cut here

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I have no problem with you. Maybe you are a nice guy. I dont want any fight with you or anyone here - maybe we just try to coexist besides each other with our opinions until the release will show who was right.

Maybe the game turns out to be much better then I expect it to be. Maybe not.. we will see.
