There is no sane argument why you would do that, when even all the ultra competitive FPS support ultra wide.

What he means is that ultra wide is still a very, VERY small niche market. You dont see ultra wide support because barely anyone uses ultra wide.
EDIT: Oh wait, there is EAC anti-cheat, better not use any 3rd party software.
That's not actually true the statistics have been showing a steady increase, a lot of games are advertising ultrawide support these days a few recent examples KCD2 and Warhammer were even bragging about it as a feature.
In fact I can only think of a handful of games released in the last decade that ultrawide is not possible on and Fromsoft is the only studio that I know of that bans accounts that mod their game to support it, there is just no logical reason to not support as many resolutions as possible when the effort to do so is so tiny.
