Lots of crashes, can't seem to fix it
So i've been crashing a lot, most of the time it's once per game, generally by the end of day 2. Sometimes i don't crash for 2-4 games but it always comes back.

I feel like i tried every fix people mention here and on other sites but the problem persists. So i'm posting this as a last hope kind of thing.

My setup:
Mobo: msi tomahawk b760 wifi
Cpu: i7-14700k
Gpu: gtx 4070
Ram: corsair 32gb ddr5-6000

What i have already tried:
Verifying the game

Reinstalling the game

Checking file system with sfc scannow

Using memory diagnostic tool

Enabling and disabling xmp

Lowering ram frequency to 5800 or 5600 (not sure which i tried anymore, might try 5600 again)

Bios update

Gpu driver update

Gpu driver ddu and going to 566.36

Running game and eac as admin

Running in win8 compability mode

Reinstalling game on other drive

Reinstalling eac

Windows update

Lowered graphics settings

Disabled all overlays

Reinstalled redistributables

I probably tried some other stuff i'm forgetting rn.

But I thought i would update since i made 1 more change based on a suggestion I found somewhere else and haven't crashed yet since, about 10 games in so looks promising but will only be sure in like 10 more games, i'll try and think to report back and mark this as the solution.

What I changed: turned off both cpu turbo modes in bios (intel turbo boost and intel turbo boost max).

Good catch, sounds like the intel instability at higher clock speeds could be contributing, alternatively, if this seems to end up being an actual fix, if your bios are unlocked you can use Intel XTU to essentially underclock the boost (I have my 14900kf at x52 on p-cores). 14th gen intel can sometimes develop instability at clock speeds higher than 5.4ghz. But I wouldn't look into this unless having boost off seems to be a permanent fix.

To elaborate doing this in Intel XTU essentially gives you the performance back from boost but curtails it to not go above the threshold that usually causes instability, thus reducing the chance of instability due to things like voltage.

Same crash, happens every few games, sometimes in rapid succession. Always seems to happen when lots of particles or crazy effects happen. Adel's nuke crashed my game.

I have the same issue in base game Elden Ring and it's way worse in SotE too. Tried everything that Bandai support suggested, nothing works. Going to try reinstalling windows eventually. Maybe replace the CPU or GPU or maybe ram idk. It's so frustrating

This file is part of nvidias drivers. So the problem you are having suggests a driver issue.
Are you by any chance trying to force / launching the game with dx11? If you are that might actually be the problem.

I have a similar setup to yours: 14700k, 4070Ti, 64GB DDR5 and the game has not crashed or stuttered a single time. I am on newest nvidia drivers and am even using nvidias filters for the game.
For me it seems to happen randomly, not when theres lots of particles. Never crashed during nightlord fights.

As far as I know i'm not force launching with dx11 since i never manually changed this, any way to check this just to be sure?

After the first crash i updated to the newest drivers and also used the settings geforce experience suggested. It still crashed, since then have gone back to 566.36 without geforce experience, still crashed. So ddu'd and updated to the newest version again, also without geforce experience. But still get crashes.

One suggestion i wasn't able to try is lowering cpu to 53x with intel tuning tool, but that's because the option is greyed out for me, but i feel like it's not a cpu issue so didn't look into that.

I had similar problems with elden ring but didn't check the exact error back then, just updated bios and it was fixed so i presumed it was the microcode issue the newer cpus have.
Just to be sure i'll run a memtest86 when i get home, just to be sure it's not a ram problem as that was the issue for one of the users on the nvidia forums with the same error for the same module.

As Grimzy said, it's pointing towards the gpu, but they could be symptomatic and not the problem, other likely causes are RAM, corrupted files or general OC instability, memtest is a good idea, OCCT for gpu testing is also a good idea, you could also try lowering your ram speed to see if that helps, trying previous drivers (566.36) may also help (though you've done this already), outside of that, the standard sfc dism sfc, corrupted game files would be ideal.

To be clear, memtest + OCCT is probably the best course of action to rule out hardware related issues.

Sorry to hear, particles are usually related to gpu strain, instability or ram instability, some niche cpu issues like poor thread scheduling can also contribute to the cause (which the game has). But without crash logs or detailed symptoms I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure.

That was just a comment on my post. The post has the crash log. Going to run occt & memtest when i get home. If you have other suggestions i'm all ears.

We'll wait until we get results from OCCT and memtest, then go from there, but I have this thread subscribed so I'll come back once that's done. If these don't work I do have other suggestions.
Appreciate all the suggestions and effort everyone, thank you!
Ran occt for about 2 hours. Didn't find any errors so I'm starting to think my hardware isn't the issue. Didn't have time for memtest yet, will report back once I do.
I've had similar crashes. At first It was somewhat of a struggle to even open the game again after a crash, but it seems better now after only opening the game with administrator.
I'm somewhat willing to bet on EAC being weird, but I don't have anything conclusive.

Also tried that, was hopefull for a bit but it ended up crashing again. The problem to troubleshoot this is that sometimes i'll get like 3 games in a row without a crash and then it comes back. When i tested solo in offline mode, i didn't crash for 2 games but i was tired of playing alone so yeah... I am still looking into programs known to conflict with eac as I don't feel like it's a hardware issue after running OCCT extensively yesterday. If I change anything and feel confident it doesn't crash anymore i'll make sure to report back, just want to be sure by playing like 10-20 games without a crash first.

Being thorough is good , thank you for putting in the effort. Just popping in to say I am still paying attention.
Ok so, I think I fixed it. I'm just not 100% sure yet as I want to play 20+ games without crashing to be sure since it sometimes didn't crash for a couple of games in a row. I've just finished my 10th game without a crash.

The issue was something kind of obvious except that I still don't understand how it resulted in a nvidia driver module crash but whatever:
I still had cheat engine installed. Haven't touched it for a long time but used it to make a mod for a friend and myself in BOI and never uninstalled it.

How I fixed it:
- first i uninstalled easy anti cheat and deleted the folder of easy anti cheat in the game directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN\Game\easyanticheat if it's installed on your C: drive - the uninstall .exe or .bat should be in there too)

- then I uninstalled cheat engine trough control panel - uninstall a program

- then I searched for cheat engine in C:\Program Files (x86), C:\Program Files, C:\Users\[USERNAME], C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents and in the registry (press windows key + R and type in regedit and press enter - you can search with ctrl + f) and deleted any result that was related to cheat engine

- rebooted

- searched registry again, this time on 'cheat enige', 'cheatengine' and 'dark_byte' and deleted anything related to cheat engine - I could have probably done this before the reboot

- rebooted

- verified game files trough steam

and that's pretty much it. I didn't touch anything before doing the stress tests and since then this is the only thing I changed. This means all my bios settings are default again on the latsest version and I'm still on driver 566.36. I'm not sure I'll update rn since this works and don't want to risk breaking anything. If I do or it comes back I'll report back. If I never post in this thread anymore it means that was my permanent solution.

Hope this helps someone!

Hopefully you've got it right and the issue remains absent, good work, thank you for putting in the effort! I'll keep the thread subscribed just in case you run into issues again.
Welp, last game I played last night crashed, after playing another 4 games with no problems.

Error code 0xc0000005 again.

I guess I'll try some other stuff and report back if I find something that helps.

It's weird tho, maybe coincidence, but when i crashed i was playing with a friend and the rest of the week i played mostly with randoms. Idk just trying to put all the info I have in this thread.
