Dog mode activate: form of golden retriever. Dont hit LT right away, its pretty decent.
It's really good to rez teammates

Its also good as a get out of jail free card. If you're about to go down and or in a dicey situation, go beast mode and you get a massive HP bar
Free full hp estus, ez to revive teammates on almost all distance, early very strong for clearing wave of enemys, with malenia blade passive literally invincible
Also great for distracting enemies away from your teammates. I thought it was big dogass when I first tried it because of the damage, but it's clear that it's mainly used as a utility transformation rather than a dps boost.

In solo mode it's actually really good because the scaling isn't complete ass.
I think whatever your doing your using it wrong
It is as powerful as a puppy though, if it did better damage or lasted longer it might be worth it

Its not good for reviving in high level boss fights, and nightlord. Your hitbox is so big that you get punished for it, and die as a result. In smaller fights it fails in damage. and the attack endlags and movement in general are so bad that you will spend half of your ultimate bar trying to turn around or manuever yourself so you can actually hit the enemy (or revive your teamate) I'm not using it "wrong" there are only 4 buttons to press its impossible to use it wrong.

in general he doesn't have any perks lol, his passive and skill is too situational, having a 20% more dmg just after healing from an ailment is just so dumb, why not a passive that complements his kit?.

and for the skill, parrying is rewarding but it depends on you getting focused, even with the relic that makes enemies target you while guarding, this character is better as a single tank, but if you have at least one melee, your utility drops drastically
mechanically it's versatile and useful, but thematically it feels out of place

It is a free heal to full hp. Form deals good AoE stance damage and can facetank some hits from bosses. The best skill he has.
The ult is alright. It's useful if you want a very mindless crowd control/clear or want to mindlessly slap a boss around for a bit. Since it full heals you, functions as an additional heal as well. The finisher that transforms you back to normal does solid stagger.

This is one of his problems, yeah. 20% is alright, and I bet you could even work with it if you had control over it, like some way of self-proccing some status ailments and curing them for more damage, but there is no reliable way to do that, and even *curing* ailments is up to RNG giving you the respective bolus.

His ult is his only good skill.

Full heal, aoe attacks are good for rezing, able to poise break pretty easily. Good chunk of damage on transforming in melee.

Umm no, his parry works on EVERYTHING, aoe's spells you name it.
