Did people even look up what this game is gonna be?

Going through the reviews and discussions about the game, alot of them, for some reason, did not know what this game is going to be and prob. just bough it because it was named "Elden ring"? At least that is the feeling that I get here. Do none of u look up games before they buy it or look what it`s about? Do people here even know that this was made by a different director?

I do understand the critisism about the lack of optimization and there being no 2 player mode and crossplay. But really alot of the negative reviews seem to think that this was just another normal souls like? I am so confused by this honestly.

Yea that too, I really don't get why people are so "mad" nowadays, if u don't like the concept of the game just skip it, it's as simple as that. But here we are lmao.

I think shock is the correct descriptor. How can you make a forced coop/multiplayer game in 2025? People suck. Multiplayer sucks. I simply can't believe it. Marathon is doa not because of art theft but because they want to force 3 player teams. Nightreign isn't making headlines the same way because it was an obvious throwaway from the start so nobody really cares. It's still baffling though.

On a serious note tho, the self-proclaimed "hardcore fanbase" of the souls games are some of the whiniest crybabies you'll see online so it was kind of a given that when their favorite sugar daddy doesn't cater to their specific interests they're going to throw a tantrum like a todler that was denied their 17th lolipop.
Let's be honest, it was either this, or "you're not a real gamer unless you beat nightreign solo, no levels, relics, abilities, weapons or healing"

Almost as bad as that Metal Gear Survive game everybody hated. (and for good reasons)

How can it be bait, if every trailer about this game and also the represantation within youtube videos showed what this game is and how it work? Also if they did not name this game "Elden Ring" people would be even more bad with them taking most of the assets from the original Elden Ring.

Why would that change the amount of content in the game? It's a single mostly static map where you kill the same enemies over and over to pick up the same gear over and over. There's even a book in roundtable that lists every item in the game, and it's about 1/4th of the items from base Elden Ring. Combine that with preset characters, and you have no content.
