This game is ass and I'm tired of pretending it's not

Welcome to Nightreign, where the only thing darker than the world is the design choices. Clunky controls, and dialogue so cringe it makes me puke.

One of the most glaring issues with Nightreign is its departure from the methodical and immersive gameplay that defined its predecessor. The game thrusts players into 30–45-minute "Expeditions" where the primary objective is survival against increasingly difficult bosses within a shrinking map, reminiscent of battle royale titles. This constant pressure leaves little room for exploration or strategic planning, elements that were central to the original game's appeal . Moreover, the combat mechanics suffer from a lack of depth.

Recycled Content

A significant point of contention is the game's heavy reliance on nostalgia, the environments are repurposed, giving Nightreign the feel of a sophisticated mod rather than a standalone title

Conclusion

In a nutshell its attempt to innovate, Elden Ring: Nightreign sacrifices the very elements that made the original game a landmark title.

Almost as if it was made by a different director.

Oh.
Wait.
It is.

You knew coming in to this that there was going to be rehashed assets you goofball. The big hook was that the nameless king was in the trailer, why are you pretending that you didn't know?

Yes, there is no time for exploration, this is a tactical roguelike game, not a myst-adjacent adventure game. You need to actually think about what you bought instead of projecting unfulfilled desires unto the product.

idk, I played about 3 hours with a friend + randoms and so far it's pretty decent. Does have it's issues though, not sure how long i'd be interested in playing but overall it's not bad.

Controls aren't clunky at all, just as responsive as Elden Ring's, which aren't the best out there - but still.

Really weird that people who claim to like Elden Ring are giving up after a few hours, there's clear progression baked into the game that gives you power creep regardless of how far you get in a match.

Like, what, it's ok to beat your head against a boss for hours but not now? I think some people are just going to be upset that they can't outgear/outlevel the content, and others will get frustrated with the forced time limit on exploration.

Except with clunky controls and "cringe" dialogue I agree. Some runs, you just know it wont be successful but there is nothing you can do. Once you and your group missed too much, or stuck too long on a boss, there is no way to fix a run like that because of the stupid circle. Your only option is to either leave and get penalized or waste your time until you die to the day boss cause you are dependant on your teammates and if they didnt get strong enough the run is over.

Thats the experience playing with randoms. Solo I definitely need an option to increase the time until the circle comes in or something. I need more time to explore the map. There is chests, many dungeons etc. but it sucks that you cant explore them all which would be so important in solo play.

It's not weird. This is what the Soul's community looks like when you strip away the easy mode gameplay and the cheat engine. This is who they were the entire time.
The fact that time/flames don't pause or slow down during boss fights is incomprehensible levels of Japanese I've never witnessed before.

Absolutely agree with this guy. I did my homework before this game was released, and that is why I probably won't ever buy it... not unless they make bikini skins for the female characters.

Because FromSoft have historically made exceptional games all under one person and then that person didn't make this game.

I think it's pretty damn obvious the game was made to cash in on the Elden Ring name, the fact that it's Elden Ring alone will attract many many many people.

It's basically Elden Ring meets Fortnite
For every idiot in this thread insisting the controls aren't clunky: WHY TF DO WE NEED 2 DIFFERENT SPRINT BUTTONS?!

This game is ass and has been refunded

Yea. After getting trash random after trash random I am unable to find the fun in this game. It's not a very rewarding game either so your suffering is for basically nothing.

What's clunky about that?
Regarding the point about this game having the appearance of a mod for Elden Ring, rather than being a standalone new game: well, I could name a number of real mods for Elden Ring which are better than this, are free and have new mechanics and bosses and all. And you can combine most of them with the seamless coop mod as well, so all this game has to offer is already there and is partially much more innovative in new enemy designs, game mechanics and bosses than this game.
