Is this game mostly just really frustrating?
Could be I'm bad - my ego's not too big to admit that. I've played every Souls game, I've beaten Elden Ring 3-4 times, the last two play throughs I did solo with no summons. It's not like I'm a complete novice to the series, but man, I'm having a really frustrating time with this game. I feel like I'm constantly playing catch up and the entire run is a race to level up. Make a mistake and get hugely punished for it.

I don't know man, I've only put a few hours into so far and maybe I need to engage with it more and give it a chance, but right now this feels like a huge chore to play. Bit of a bummer.

The too-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-hard-to-see blue fire ruins the entire pace of the game. No idea how this got past QA.
So the tankiest character goes down in 2 hits from a f^&damn withered noble

You can't plan a build because you have no idea what weapons you'll ever get

All the starting gear is crap so you start with crap every time and can't change it except for some minor passive buffs from relics BUT GOOD ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LUCK GETTING ANYTHING DECENT EVER

If you aren't gud, you get punished with level loss again and again and again, falling behind your teammates and generally creating a toxic environment

I requested a refund, I've never done that before with a FROM game

They intentionally colored them similar to the border flame specifically to f&(k with new players

did yall not even look at this game before buying it to realize that its a very "Fast run like hell get buffed ASAP otherwise you die" type of gameplay
its not for everyone and its very different from souls games they did so far

yes you need to plan out your route and do it right
i didnt try it solo playing it with friends trio
and we plan out and go and map out things and collect enough items and level ups

Sorry it's not just get big titanite and beat game. You have to use your brain under time constraints.
Nightreign seems to take the worst part of Battleroyal and combines it with a bad and tiresome aspect of Souls games.

Ain't nobody got time to run around like crazy for 40 mins speed running boss fights in a Souls games with randoms.

I did look it into it - a lot actually. I followed its coverage closely before release and watched multiple reviews. I'm gonna give it another chance and see if it grows on me - I've got some buddies that want to play as well, but so far, I just don't really want to keep playing.

Even at my most frustrated in Elden Ring, I always wanted to keep going. I'm not getting that feeling here.

Don't forget the same garbage UI since 15 years that's completely unadapted to the loot model

I don't think the game is impossible- there are ways to plan runs to mitigate luck to some extent, like hitting the areas that drop the weapon types you want as a priority. That definitely helps, and can make runs less tedious.

But that said, yeah, this is definitely a lot more luck based than other Soulslikes because of the nature of the runs. You can't really build to answer things, and if you draw certain random match-ups you're going to have a better or worse time just based on having found the right/wrong gear.

I do think there is probably a legitimate case for getting good- I'm rusty and eating hits that I *know* I can dodge, I'm just out of practice- but it is also going to be harder to "answer" encounters the same way other Soulslikes do with build options.

I mean do you expect to get the entire map knowledge and game knowledge in a few hours? That's kinda wild if you do. There is a lot of detail in the map, learning the rotations, learning the routes, learning the symbols, understanding the scaling of each character, knowing the the symbol of the camp also represents the weapon type it drops, knowing roughly where all the field bosses spawn.

You will get better over time. It's only a chore if you don't enjoy the game play loop, and if that's the case you probably shouldn't have bought the game in the first place and it explicitly states what it is.

Otherwise, yeah you're gonna fail. Bro that's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point of the game. Fail, learn, get better. You're not gonna one shot every boss like LilAggy or Parky. Sheeesh

Yeah, I think this game demands a lot of foreknowledge from the player, and it seems like that process of learning the systems is going to be a bit more tedious this time around. I might come around to enjoying it, but so far I'm not lol.

The game is very hard, it feel like im doing a naked character 1-hit run. wich i would never do
any assistance for game crashing at launch, goes white, see cursor change then nothing, a buddy showed how it loads white screen then loads something else, what is the game checking for in between those transitions, would help me get to enjoy it day one with the homies
