Watching streamers play the game i do not understand what main ideas of this game

I see they finish a run they go back to what seems to be round table.
then i see some runes.
what progression in this game. is this like extract souls game . what going on .
i see each run can take like an hour or so . then you do it again . is map stay same .
this game seems so out of place of anything i know off.
explain anyone ?

It´s just a Rogue Like if you realy want a stamp on it. You take Runes after every run with you to pimp and build your Character a little.
