ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN

ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN

MATCHMAKING/COOP.
so, i've been searching but can find an answer. I know it is either 1 or 3 player.
but can my friend and I play together and just have a 3rd random join us?
how will that work if my friend and I would need a password to actually pair up in the game. would the 3rd just by pass that password and join us?

From what I understand, and how it was in the network test on consoles, yeah, it forces matchmaking with a 3rd player or you can play solo. I don't believe you can lock it to just two players either, but not sure how the joining process works with friends.

That's awesome. Thanks
No one knows for certain because FS have been very reticent with specifics. Play tests do not confirm or de-confirm anything because they are there to stress test the game -- in NR's case, duo co-op would not have been needed at that time to test what trio play would do better, and thy would not have wasted time implementing it for a demo if it wasn't essential for their data collection. That, and every Souls game was worked in co-op, while three [co-op] players hasn't always been a thing.

Having said that, dropping two-player would be a mistake that will cost them sales, and I cannot reconcile why they would do it; especially when far more dubious solo play (dubious in terms of difficulty) is all but confirmed to be in. On the other hand, their conspicuous silence on the matter implies that two-player co-op isn't there -- why wouldn't they confirm its presence if this wasn't the case...? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
