Nightreign looks good, except it's The Duskbloods at home

A lot of blood was spilled arguing over how much copy-paste of content is acceptable before it becomes too much for a supposedly new game. Some people think this game looks fine in that regard, others don't. I lean towards the latter, but that disagreement I can understand, it's kinda subjective how much copy paste you can take before getting kinda sick of it.

Others disagree on a conceptual level, while some think the rogue-like premise is very cool, others hate it's "trendy" feel. I'm on the former in this one, regardless of trend this is (IMO) a very nice spin on the formula and pre-existing systems of Elden Ring. But again I can understand why some ppl would dislike this direction.

What I can't understand is the sycophant argument that this game doesn't look cheaply made. Not only the asset reuse (and lack of new stuff on top) is off the charts with this one, they got rid of PvP (which saves resources too, and a lot of work for balancing). And for a multiplayer focused game we are still missing plenty of requested features like voice chat, better communication tools, a matchmaking and lobby system that ditches the clunky password system, crossplay etc.

Suddenly The Duskbloods is announced and we can immediately tell where all those resources went: Despite some asset reuse as usual, you can still see plenty of new designs, enemies, environments, etc. Game has voice chat. It has PvP too. And plenty more.

This IMO shows that, while Fromsoftware is still a top tier developer with their talent and output capacity at their peak, and I think Nightreign will be decent fun, they are spreading themselves too thin and dooming some projects to never realize their full potential, just because they have to rush to the next project, rinse & repeat.

Duskbloods looks like it sucks though. that really is a fortnite clone because only one person survives, you cant play with friends, just randoms and only bosses that spawn makes the pvp stop for a minute. The only goal ist the winner winner chicken dinner. Also it is on switch, so it will suck anyway, why do even talk about it?

For Nightreign, yes they reused assets, lots of it, but they changed some core features, you can climb and vault now, the greatsword moveset got sped up, all the special moves were not in the main game and they look flashy and grand, other players can damage enemies during a finisher, you can revive teammates. This game is about pure coop and finding synergies with charcters and playstyles with your friends....not a stupid 8 people deathmatch like duskbloods.

Can you guys stop with "thing I don't like is Fortnite clone"? Both games look good, I will probably play both. Neither will be as good as the Dark Souls trilogy, but that's ok, neither was Elden Ring. You can enjoy something without having to ♥♥♥♥ on something else.

Yeah duskblood doesn't look good to me. Nightreign looks way better, reused assets or not, I mean it plays in the same world so that is to be expected. Also it connects to Dark Souls because it use bosses from it too. I'm excited and I rather play coop than some weird pvp mode. When I want to play pvp I just invade.

Nightreign > Duskbloods. Duskbloods, thx to switch hw, looks already like a dated game. It has PvP, if it's just cross-region again then it's gonna be yet another laggy mess. Finally no cheat engine folks running with full stock, though. As for Nightreign, I feel like this is some sort of side activity you could be doing in Elden Ring by helping other players except made much more intresting as you don't have your build anymore and can get actual rewards after every run unlike some meaningless runes and rune arc with possible PvP mess in between.

Tiresome talking to you. This is my last comment here. Duskblood sucks because its on switch and is a fortnite clone. Thats my point of view. you can continue to cry about this generalization that may or may not is unfair or not justified or whatever, honestly I dont even give a ♥♥♥♥ about a game that only comes out on a nintendo console that has less processing power than my fridge. Nightreign is not duskbloods at home, thats what this was about once, not in what genre you want to place the gameplay in.
