You might as well get it. Chance are players of the base game and DLC will be segregated since I doubt those w/o the DLC will be able to fight the DLC bosses and I'd imagine the vast majority of the playerbase will get the DLC as a result.

Yeah, I played ER with a friend and since he didn't own the DLC he couldn't join me in the Land of Shadow. We were stuck on the loading screen. We presumed it wouldn't be possible but it was worth a try.

I don't think people who pre-order this title are keen on "the gesture" - and yes, you shouldn't just buy something because of the hype but after you got an impression first but with fromsoftware's history of games- I don't blame people who pre-order their games...
