kernel level anti cheat isnt malware its actually much better then garbage software level anti cheat that dont work, remember punkbuster? yeah that never worked as intended,
that said all anti cheats arent perfect theres a reason why vac is delayed, and its a very good reason for it too,
now whats a malware level anti cheat is anything china related as all chinese games install spyware. which is illegal in north america japan and europe,
people literally forget vac is kernel level anti cheat.
so why is ok for valve to have a kernel level anti cheat but no ok for anyone else?
also ricochet works fine i seen script kiddies get screwed over by the anti cheat,
all activision anti cheat does is trolls the cheater who is using known cheats.
So don't waste your time on him.
Have a good day :)
I don't necessarily like it either, but it does work except against the most dedicated sh*tters. (Except on Linux/proton, which hopefully will be fixed - this is why Elden Ring is saturated with cheaters at the moment)
Certainly a double edged sword. My advice is always to use your gaming PC ONLY for gaming if it makes you uncomfortable, and always use multi-factor auth for all your important accounts
If you think EAC is gathering information about you and sending it to some server by running at kernel level, or doing anything other than what it needs to prevent cheats, you can always do a FOIA request to EAC, or GDPR, or the equivalent from where you live.
except kernel level anticheat doesn't work. looks at CoD and all the other games that use it and remain flooded with hackers and cheaters.
and what will you do when it gets compromised? hello, hackers with ring-0 access to your pc.
nothing can prevent cheating and hacking in video games because there is no such thing as unhackable software.
the only thing i know of that MIGHT be actual unhackable software is TempleOS and even then there's likely SOME way in.
If you want to know really why COD has lots of cheaters, here it is. Not to mention it is a homebrew anticheat

At any rate, we are talking about Fromsoft and EAC.
I spend a great deal of time in the Elden Ring hacking and reverse engineering community. EAC works so well it is considered too much trouble to bother with cheat engine on Windows. And yes solutions are available, like custom drivers, but you take a big risk of just bricking your PC or worse, which most aren't willing to take. Because on Proton/Linux EAC only runs at the user level, cheating there is almost trivial, and that is what all of the cheaters are using.
Not to mention that no one cares about accessing your PC.
...Maybe if fromsoftware inserts the etransmogrify mod into the game, and lets you not only change your armor, but also gender, then I'll buy the game.
