It is not a Battle Royale, it just has a circle, none of the other core BR mechanics.
"The gameplay typically combines the gunplay mechanics of first or third person shooters with the exploration and scavenging found in the best survival games. It is a genre with a few absolute rules but can be quite flexible in its application as games introduce additional mechanics such as weapon tiers, character abilities, upgrades, and more." - techopedia
ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN has all above but no PvP.
Actually:
Why do you think quoting google or technopedia is some claim to authority. Everyone, yourself included, knows Battle Royale games are traditionally PvP focused.
Oh wait, I just used google too:
Oh wait, also from technopedia:

PUBG, Fortnite, Final Fantasy 7: The first soldier, etc.
I quoted it because I think the same as you at first but after some reading and watching, it has a part.
I don't think I disagree with anything you just said.
It is those mechanics in combination with the last man standing PVP element that makes it a game a Battle Royale. The very term comes from an old movie where it was a last man standing thing.
Mechanics like these in a PVE setting are synonymous with the rouge-like genre.
