If thats how you view it then sure. I just can't imagine myself thinking a game is gonna be beans and also thinking "I'm still gonna buy it". I do hope you manage to have fun with it in the end at least.
There are plenty of other games out there though, even plenty of great ones.
We're talking about FS here mate. You know first hand that the general quality that comes from them is seriously up there. None of their recent games have been anywhere near bad or wrongly priced. So where does this negative view of yours even come from, its very illogical to have expectations this low.
The rouge-like elements will certainly diminish the repetition to a large extend, combined with the randomized loot and more unique characters to play as you might honestly be pleasantly surprised. I freaking love the genre and understand exactly what they are aiming for with this.
Its very logical to view a drastic shift away from what I personally think makes their games great, which is games made with passion and care, to a game that seems made more to make some quick money.
My issue with the reuse of bosses isn't just that it's lazy, it comes across as a lack of care for their own IP. And seeing things just thrown together in Limgrave doesn't scream "passion and care" to me.
I do genuinely hope the people that buy it have fun with it. That isn't a lie or me being snarky.
That's a fair take, fighting enemies we've been fighting since Demon's Souls is getting a little tiresome for some people
Randomization is key in roguelikes, having a strong amount of random occurrences to keep things fresh is incredibly important. And by the looks of it they understand this very well, by re-using and reworking some older assets they are able to make a larger volume content. This content will then fuel the RNG machine and keeps things more varried than they would have been able to make it when all that extra time went into making entirely new creatures. This doesn't exactly scream lack of care to me.
I'd rather them take 1-2 more years to make the same game with original enemies and the same variety. I've SEEN all these bosses before, doesn't matter if they have a few new moves. The impact of seeing them and going "Oh ♥♥♥♥" is gone.
And it seems we have very different views on what a lack of care means and I doubt we're gonna change each others minds.
