Intro skip crashing the game?
[Edit]
There should be no problem with the intro with the new Halloween update since it is replaced with a not skip able loading screen.

Since I could not figure out yet what is causing the crash for some people when they skip the intro here is the workaround which just turns the intro off. It can be of course also used when you just don't like the intro to be played anymore:

- Go in steam\steamapps\common\262210\UDKGame\Config
(The quickest way is to right click on Last Knight in your Library, then properties, local files, browse local files)
- Open the UDKEngine.ini
- Go to the [FullScreenMovie] section and put "//" in front of "StartupMovies=intromovie"

Here is how the section should look then:
[FullScreenMovie] bForceNoMovies=FALSE bShouldStopMovieAtEndOfLoadMap=TRUE StartupMovies=UE3_logo //StartupMovies=intromovie SkippableMovies=UE3_logo SkippableMovies=intromovie

Just for the record, I deleted intromovie.bik from here - Steam\steamapps\common\262210\UDKGame\Movies...and it looks like game is working just fine...

Did not know it would work with that, when it starts up with that it is fine. That workaround is then even easier. Could also be renamed instead.

Hi Davision,
I no how you can fix the problem checkout below.

When I moved the "intromovie.bik" from
SteamApps\common\262210\UDKGame\Movies\

The Game started successfully.

I Just Re-Encoded the "intromovie.bik" and it fix the problem.

Only now the file size is 73MB Instead of 37,2MB as it was my experiment as I don't no the Video Settings used originally.

If you can Re-encode the video and Upload the file it should solve the crashing problem for all.

With the Re-encoded intro I did I was able to hit the Escape key without it Crashing, so I think there is corruption in the original file.

Eventually and if Steam picks it up as missing steam will force re-downloading of the file.

True, although theoretically that should only happen after verifying the game cache files. Automatic updates to games don't normally restore that sort of thing, unless the file is involved in the update of course.

Nice find with intro movie fix. Hopefully it works for everyone!

That sounds very good! So do you simply opened it in RAD Video Tools and compressed it with the default settings? I had used some settings that compressed it more.

Using RAD Video Tools I just open up the "intromovie.bik" then I choose "Bink it"
In the new Window that pops up, I choose the Save location then on the right I click on the "Bink" Tab.
I do not change any settings at all and let it convert.

The intro with the default compression is uploaded now. Hopefully it fixes it for everyone. In any case thanks a lot for your help!

Ok I finally downloaded the New Update and have just tested the new Intro with the udate and happy to say it works when you hit the Escape Key and does not Crash anymore.

Thanks for the update.

Doesn't work for everyone unfortunately. Hard to say what is going on since I can't recreate and I don't know why it happens for some people while it does not at all for others. But I will look more into it for the proper next update.

Sorry to hear that its not working for some.
Possibly they did not get the updated file ?
I cannot see why it would not work from what I have seen, unless there download has corrupted the file again, only a guess of course.

UPDATE:
I just Uninstalled the game and re-installed it to get the proper Last Knight folder name instead of the id folder name.
When 1st started it crashed and was not in full screen mode, so started it straight away again this time it went into full screen mode and it did not crash when pressing the Escape key.

Just thought I would add this info.

When people disabled or deleted the intro was it still happening?

I don't know what kind of data/results you have seen, but anyway this might be a good opportunity to create a separate beta branch for testing and ask for some volunteers to opt into it. That way any potential fix you test only gets pushed out to them. Then when a resolution looks promising, you can then release the build on the main branch. I would have volunteered to help out but my game isn't crashing.

Thanks for this fix (replacing intromovie by //). Seems like it worked even if i had a long black screen. Still better than a crash or an even longer intro.
