I ran into the same problem with it just exiting back to desktop a few seconds after starting it. I found I was able to get it to start the first time by going into the game folder and into properties for the "Humans Must Answer.exe" file, and enabling "Run in 640x480 screen resolution" on the Compatibility tab. Once the game started, I was able to select the resolution I wanted, then after exiting I was able to turn the compatibility setting back off again and it continued to launch fine in the selected resolution.

I tried enabling "Run in 640x480 screen resolution" on the Compatibility tab and it worked! Thank you G.I.Bill!!!!
