Yeh technically it's Syobon Action. Makes a lot more sense that they are related if you know the game's actual name.

Well, yes it is somewhat like cat mario, or syobon action; however syobon action is not the first troll/rage platformer. It is just well known I think.

Basically both Syobon Action and IWBTG are based on this flash games. Eryi's Action is heavily based on Syobon Action (which makes sense, since both games were created by tiku).
