Tips for stage 8? (EX Mode)

The biggest issue I have there is that bear you have to jump off, anyone knows a good reliable strat for that? It usually either burns at least 9 of my lives or just ends a run altogether.

I am rather good at the other stages, even 10, just occasionally getting hit by one part or another.
I reached the final boss once, but at 0 lives because I lost at least 14 to the bear.

I feel like I'm doing something wrong, just like how I thought Stage 7 was the hardest, but it turns out I made it even harder because I was doing mid-air shell bird jumps instead of properly solving the level, I guess that is what happens when you know a little about how kaizo mario works...
