Before this game I played another game that had the escape button to escape the inventory menu. Here? It closes the game right away, no warning or anything

It used to be a thing in the 90's for every program ever, You think this is annoying? Imagine being in a computer lab surrounded by classmates that would press each other's escape keys the moment someone would get slightly disstracted.

I think Chip's Challenge has Esc restart the level instantly with no warning. That was fun...
