I had gog version run just fine on the deck. I dont imagine this one running any differently.

i did for a few minutes. it runs perfectly, but it seems that the frame rate is limited around 30 FPS... don't feel bad though, and the controls are nice actually. i will play it for a bit more and come back if there are problems. but for now it looks good.

Tried it out myself. Runs great on Steam Deck but you really have to play in docked mode,

Yeah, its very simple on PC:

However I doubt this tutorial video would work on steamdeck but I bet if you installed this on a PC, then dragged the generated files (version 1.5) over to the steam deck's populous installed directory, then add the 1.5 generated exe's as a non-steam game (then launch with proton), it may work. I've yet to try this.

EDIT: Tried the above, it did not work because it needs registry keys so you'll likely have to do some setup with apps like wine

Interesting, Im looking into this right now. We gotta get this 1.5 patch requested as a general patch especially if its an official patch that came out. I would totally write a letter to steam and EA requesting that the latest patch be implemented and add it to the “works with steam deck” seal of approval.

I wholeheartedly think its worth a shot and its more than enough of us in here that have the interest as well as a steam deck to make it a probable reality.
