[BUG] Audio Crackling/Popping begins 2-10 minutes after I begin playing.
Hey guys,

Shortly after I begin playing the game, I start getting some crackling/popping/distorted audio in my headphones that makes the game completely unplayable. I'm using Razer Kraken Pro 7.1 headphones connected with a USB hub, but I've substituted both out with other headphones/speakers and I'm still getting the issue so I don't think it's the external audio hardware. I've also restarted my computer ;)

I have about 175 GB of memory free on my computer (450 GB total) after disk cleanup/defragmenting this afternoon. No malware issues. I'm using RamBooster which says I have 4.2 GB of free RAM when I boot up the game.

This only happens when I play Ori and the Blind Forest. I've never had this issue with any other game, and I have 100+ in my library.

Any help would be very appreciated, from the devs or otherwise. My specs are below; I'm not a very technical person when it comes to computer hardware but here's my best shot:

Macbook Pro running Windows 7 Ultimate (Bootcamp)
Intel Core i7-2720QM CPU @ 2.20 Ghz
8.00 GB RAM
64-bit operating system
AMD High Definition Audio Device (listed under Sound/video/game controllers)
Cirrus Logic CS4206b (AB 29) (listed under Sound/video/game controllers)
AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M series Display Adapter

Thanks!

Heya, Ori developer here.

Our game uses the Unity engine / Fmod sound processing, which (according to our sound designer) is specifically compiling for Windows. The fact that you're running a VM, means that the audio is processed through two sets of drivers (Windows and Mac). I'm afraid I don't have a setup in which I can test this, but it seems like this is no unlikely reason for your sound to be bad - especially since this is the first time I heard of this problem with Ori.

Have you played any Unity + Fmod games before, that you know of?

Hey Opiaz, thanks for all your help addressing bugs here on the forums :)

That's really good information for me! I was afraid it might be an issue with drivers and it makes a lot of sense. I have been googling around for games created with Unity + Fmod but can't seem to find anything. Does your audio designer know of any other Steam games that use this software? Maybe I could play one of them briefly and test it for us.

Thanks for the help!

I changed settings in AMD control center because Ori was lagging a lot. It runs better now but now I have the crackling too.
For what it's worth, I'm fairly sure it was a driver issue. I recently built a new computer and now I don't run Bootcamp anymore, the game works fine.
