The lvl design of Forlorn ruins sucks. I bet 70% of all people explore the left side of the double-laser chamber first, because it looks like a side track.
Everybody who does that is doomed to miss the right side of that chamber. Absolutely nothing you can do against it.
Thats just poor lvl design.
In games like this I don't fully explore until I progress further to get more abilities and then I check all the areas. I have 100% in every area except the Ruins :( I wonder what the reasons were for sealing it off?
i went to the left and the momment i saw the seal i hit Esc and quit to menue when loading the game i was back before going there. you just have to think the save dosent happen untill after the cinematic so you literaly have 2 minutes to hit esc and quit to menue before your locked
Also, a game where you have to be prepared at any moment to Alt-F4 has a clear game design problem - in this case I would still blame level design specifically.
Dont get me wrong: I like the game and would even go as far as saying it would be perfect if it werent for this auto-save never come back issue.
The game could at least as you if you want to save and disclaim that you wont be able to come back to the region before. Many other games of the same genre support this kind of feature.
..and not only that they autosave on you so no not poor level design, horrendous. Luckily I have a save before the Forlorn ruins so will be reverting.
Making the left side an objective on the map would rectify the issue.
1 - Getting back *into* the double laser chamber, from the "deposited-the-orb-here" chamber - warp to the teleporter in the ruins and head right as far as you can. You can trail a bolt from the spider thing through the doorway left of the "deposited-the-orb-here" chamber, following it across the room and off it to get height. Or possibly air dash (have not got it yet).
2 - In the laser chamber you need to stomp down the post on the lower side of the right wall, this opens the way to barred off area. It's worth it since further on there's a secret area with a life orb down the pit on the far right.
Thanks Danarok. That was all I needed to do to get 100%. I didn't realize that was a post.
I'm not sure what you're trying to say with part 1. I could've fast travelled back to the forlorn ruins but walked back instead (had to destroy a big rock with charge-blast on the way).
