The surface your feet are on is always down so if you're sttod on the right side of an orange block down it to the left, meaning if you jump off then thats the way you will fall.
After that it's a case of remembering which way the left and right on the stick are going.
If you want to reoriente to the ground RT will drop the orb, just make sure you're over safe ground or ready to float after you drop it.
One thing I found as well was I started to tilt my head to line up with down, similar to what folk do with hands and controllers with driving games.
No your not, died quite a few times before I worked this out
Lay your screen down and rotate it as you play. That way you'll handle the orientation of the gravity direction better.
