Looks nice, but is asking too much.
My big problem with indie games that ask me for 20 dollars is the fact if I wait a month, maybe two it will either be half off or more or even on a humble bundle. You know this will happen, it will happen. This is a single player game that got attention from the media, it will be in the next, if not the next humble bundle after that. Considering this isn't a online game I can wait to enjoy it at anytime. That is what people don't understand, there is zero rush to get to this game and waiting only benefits you but the "I gotta have it nooow" mentality rekts the general gamer as seen by the many posts below.

This is less of a money issue and more of a time issue. 20 dollar isn't a lot, but for a 10 hour game I'll need something more than just an impressive looking game that has nice visuals and audio (terrible game play by the way), I'll need an impressive price tag too to reel me in.

Also looking at the trailers and a bit of gameplay; this game mostly uses classical tear jerkers that have been used time and time again. Oh no the cute tiny naimal is an orphan then gets taken care of by the big lovable creature, then that creature dies how tragic! Seriously, a double orphan story? This game is a metrovina game with floaty controls and auto-aiming in a platformer. It offers you nothing more than visuals and auto excellence, something you can get from a lot of other sources for a lot less. If all you desire is visual and audio and you don't care much for gameplay then fine, that's completely fine for you; it is not fine for me.

Simply put, for me anyway, this game is too much of a risk. Poor controls mixed with unreasonable difficulty means there is an awfully high chance I won't finish this game at all and that 20 bux would be wasted money. I don't care if it's 20 dollars or just one, wasted money on entertainment is garbage. Plus to make matters worse reviewers are reporting a huge amount of game breaking bugs, bugs that actually wall you and force a restart. Nope nope nope nope nope.

Out of the 40 negative reviews for this game, currently 3 of them complain of "can't run game bad game" and the rest complain about how absurdly difficult the game is. This game's presentation draws in new players with adorable and cute things then suddenly takes that casual gamer and snaps them in half with multiple sections of the game that are insane in difficulty. The designers of this game did not think to include any of the following to help this out: check points, perhaps have a reasonable ramp up in difficulty instead of having a stead incline followed by a cliff.

Related note: You can save anywhere via some sort of mechanic in the game, however check points would have been a bit nicer considering at various points when the difficulty ramps up you suddenly cannot save anywhere. Perhaps better game design would lead to devs not having to include such a feature?

Trine series:
Tight controls and platforming.
Innovative three person control.
Simple but interesting story that branches out.
Extremely good co-op.
Pleasing visuals.
Pleasing audio.
Stays mostly original despite the subject matter.
Reasonable difficulty.

This game, Ori:
Floaty controls (in a platformer)?
Lack of control (Auto aiming shots in a metrovina game).
Lack of innovation (Basic metrovina game, also please note lack of innovation isn't a bad thing par say).
Simple tear jerker story designed to play on basic human emotion (DOUBLE ORPHEN)!
Single Player only.
Pleasing visuals.
Pleasing audio.
Creates it's own subject matter but draws heavily from original sources.
Unreasonable difficult halfway through the game compounding ontop of bad controls.

Also as someone pointed out, Trine's three-player co-op is not a new concept. It borrows from an old SNES/Genesis/DOS game called The Lost Vikings, which was from the company that later became Blizzard Entertainment.
This is a really stupid thread. Allow me to end it.

20 bucks too much?
Wait for a sale.

Bought it after the sale, didn't like it?

Well hey, you didn't spend that much.

Problem solved. Thread over.

Anything else is just personal opinion and not worth debating.

How dare you be reasonable on the Internet.

I know right?
Especially in this day and age where PC gamers have to now pay 60 $ for full retail games.

The thing is, we don't. If you are desperate enough to prepurchase every overhyped piece of trash and constantly drop 60 bucks on games, you're part of the problem. And if you take that as a baseline, then yes, 20 for this game seems reasonable.

Quit pondering the nonsense you just spouted out and improve your social and economic standing so 20 dollars won't even matter! Assuming you live in a 1st world country, go out and make it happen!

You know how some of the richest men in the world are also the most frugal? It doesn't matter how much money you have, it's a personal preference on how much you succumb to frivolous spending.

I find it fascinating how mean-spirited a lot of the replies here get. OP doesn't find the price okay, mentions it and makes a weird Trine comparison. You guys could just disagree and move on, instead some of the people dig out all sorts of petty little insults. It makes you look insecure, needing to justify your purchasing decision to a total stranger in such a juvenile manner.

You're missing how the OP didn't argue any points, and only edited them in to the post after many people responded.

It was a shallow argument, then it became a shallow argument padded with other people's complaints, and more padded reasons to dismiss the game as not being worth the asking price.

The juvenile manner works both ways. OP trolled and then added some confirmation bias to keep engaging with the community.

This is without doubt the stupidest thread in Steam's history.

Saying 20 euros/dollars is too much is just ridiculous utterly ridiculous.
Agreed, the original post was nothing more than a shallow attempt at trolling.

Here's a better troll... go back to "maturbat[ing] to [War of Thunder]," we'll pay quality money for a quality title - as oppposed to a larger collection of titles that can't possibly be worth investing in (your 'Review' words, not mine)

Seriously.. look at this player's library. Some of those titles [cringes]. Yet, "Ori" is not worth $20? Total troll.

This!
I thought it was pretty apparent that the richest people are also pretty stingy how else do you think they got so obscenely rich?
Look at Steve Jobs for example who hoarded all his money compared to the Woz that personally gave his shares to coworkers. What does this even have to do with anything?

the difficulty on this game is quite high, and if your not use to 2D action platformers like Megaman or castlevania. most people will probably get angry because ori takes so much damage. the health bar is almost non existant. lol
I didn't mean to make any trouble, just wanted to talk to the Internet.
And you are teaching young people..........♥♥♥♥.....
Op, you're kidding right? Its worth MORE than the price they are asking but in all honesty this will probably net them MORE in the long run so good on them.
20 for 10 hour is too short but 60 dollars full games for 6 hour is not short? OP JUST FAILED
Not buying game = not supporting developer = they lose job, no food for family, no new games like this never.
