Can we hope for 3440x1440 (21:9) support?
Nearly everything is in the tittle, can we expect 21:9 ratio and 3440x1440 support? Of course not the cinematic, I don't care if the menu is fully in 3440x1440, but at least when we play.

Hey Arown,

We can't really support a 21:9 aspect ratio, so at that size, you'll either go stretched or have black bars on the sides.

This is a problem you see with all 2d games: You have to lock the camera somewhere, cause you're not in a 3d space, so if you'd allow for 21:9 at all times, you'd either see where the levels / art actually ended or we'd need to create way more art just for that aspect ratio.

You probably also have one of the fancy LG 21:9 monitors (as do I) and I love playing on it :)

It's what happens in Rayman Legend and it bother me less than black stripe or a streched image. Even if you don't allow us to change the aspect ratio and the resolution because It' wouldn't be totally functionnal, at least let us change it in the registry.

And 16:10 support? I will run the game at 1440x900.

This is 2D game, so this kind of screen ratio won't be suitable. So "no".

There are exceptions like "Dust: An Elysian Tail".

Sorry but you lost my support then I really wanted to buy this but no 21:9 & your reason as to why its hard to understand especially considering MS are publishing this game.

If a modder can create a plugin to stretch a 2D game to fill a 21:9 display & still maintain the aspect ratio why on earth can you not do it natively it sounds very odd to me when the Unity engine does support 21:9.

Please can you not just create an ingame option to zoom the game a little to fill 21:9 natively whilst maintaining the aspect ratio?? Call it an official unsupported option but at least give us the choice!!

Anything is better than the black borders as long as the FOV is maintained!!!

If talented modders can get acceptable results on 21:9 with 2D only games like Rayman Legends + Origins surely a company having a game published by MS can at least try & give us some 21:9 support by scaling to fill the screen losing top/bottom in places by zooming in a little!

im playing on a 2560x1080 29 inch lg ultrawide piller box doesnt bother me and the game looks flipping amazing. id have payed about double the asking price. Smooth at this res with no tearing or artifacts. and buttery smooth gameplay I tip my hat to the devs.

thats such a lame excuse. rayman origins and legends incorporated native support for it and you couldn't? What you should have done was at least provide support for the most common 21:9 resolution and that is 2560x 1080. If you did that you wouldnt have to worry about rendering extra art in the vertical dimension as the pixel height would still be 1080. You'd only have to render extra art at the end and start of the level where the horizontal space would move no further.

Hi Thomas, I don't want to sound like a prick but you are basically using the same arguments as back in the time when devs explained that 16/9 wasn't possible because assets were build for 4/3 monitors.

Don't get me wrong. I totally understand that it's would probably be a huge workload to make sure the viewport doesn't display half assets or holes in the levels but I really believe your game would shine even more on such hardware. (SInce you have an LG monitor too you understand ^_^)

I really hoped than in 2015 we would see more games using 21/9 as a native resolution when they are created

Why don't you guys try to make it work for yourselves... Instead of bashing the Dev's...? -popupwindow, (Hold Shift, Launch Game) use your imaginations and Goolge. You will find your answers...... I'm not saying it's possible, because afterall I don't have a fancy monitor, but give it a shot. Heck mod the game files to include that resolution if you need too...... Hope you guys find something that works.

There is the option to wait for Flawless Widescreen to fix this, if it is possible, of course.

The 3440x1440 option is available in the game options, that's not the issue. Launching the game in a 21/9 resolution will display the game as 16/9 with black bars on the left and right.
This thread is about asking the devs for a 21/9 viewport.
See for instance the difference for Battlefield when running on 21/9 with black bars and without. Both have the same resolution but one displays more content.
