1: what language is this spirit tree speaking? cuz the subtitles be like "When i called out to Ori", but all i hear is "NAAAAAAARO NOOOOOIRRE" (yes, me tryin to imitate the spirit tree =P)
and twoz: how much time passed ye think between when Naru found Ori during the storm, and when the prologue during the day actually takes place?
(and yesh, i haz Gumo as me avatar =P)

I don't think it's a real language, but bring a japanese student, there are times where I found few syllable sound extremely like Japanese. And if I remember correctly, Naru and Kuro mean something in Japanese.

We don't look how long it passed after Naru found Ori and we have no idea how long it take for spirit to grow up, but after the light ceremony, it took approximately a few years for the forest to fully decay. That's my understanding of it. :P

Kuro means, appropriately, 'black'

1A language] Gibberish, but with a few names and repeated phrases to give it the "feel" of a "real" language. Closest comparison I can think of offhand would be the console Klonoa games (which used Japanese-based syntax, but was mostly jibberish outside of a few key words).
Jibberish/not being a full fledged language was confirmed by several members of Moon Studios, includign the VA for Sein, during the Reddit AMA for the game.

1B names] Naru (multiple meanings) and Kuro (altered form of a masculine word meaning black) both have meanings in Japanese, while Ori is Hebrew for "My Light." Sein is the German equivalent for "to be" or "existence."

2]and StopPreOrder has it right on the timing. Ori lost and found, unspecified amount of time passes, Light Ceremony occurs. After LC the slow decay begins. Time between LC and start of game proper (i.e when the decay occured) is "many years" as stated per Sein during the first Ancestral Tree event.

Well, if you've beat the game, I got an incomplete/work in progress guide that covers a little more concerning your questions and some other stuff at

Both name origins and voice acting/language are covered in more detail there. and I have a rough outline of when the pre-prologue and concurrent with prologue events occured.

"Kuro" and "Gumo" mean "black" and "spider" (respectively) in Japanese, and "Ori" is a Hebrew name that means "my light". I'm not sure what language/s "Naru" and "Sein" are from, though.

Sein is German. "Being", "to be", something like that. Sein was also the name Moon Studios used for the prototype game that eventually became Ori.
Naru is also based on Japanese, but has multiple definitions that could fit her role.
