Has anyone mastered the last 3 Achievements Elite, Ultrasound and immortal?
Has anyone obtained the 3 achievements?

You have to finish the game without dying for one (not possible imo)

finish it under 3h (maybe but I would not be able to do that without serious preparation)

and finish the game without any upgrades (maybe havent tried)

I am curious if there are some users here who mastered one or all of them.

If yes how long did you try to achieve it?

I finished deadlight without saving and dying and that was brutal to get, cant wrap my head around how this could be possible in Ori.

There are people who have finished under a half hour, though that's using glitches. Not sure what glitchless times are though..

As for no dying? Backup saves.

in half an hour ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ok. What do you mean with backup saves?
Xryleth Nov 22, 2015 @ 6:04am
No ability points is simple, most are fairly useless anyway, and those that are useful aren't essential. Especially later in the game, the ones that allow you to heal or take less damage make almost no difference when most of the hazards are instant death anyway.

Clearing in under three hours is also pretty easy, for example I've cleared the game 100% with 4 deaths in 2:27:03, with my fastest time being 80% with 15 deaths in 1:37:11, both of them glitch and exploit free because I hate it when people break the game just to get a higher spot on a leaderboard. When it comes to going fast, it comes down to three things mostly, having some memory of the level layout, doing wall jumps well, and making good use of bash and glide to travel quickly. Oh, and you pretty much ignore all enemies when speedrunning, you don't need the experience, and never stopping to fight them saves you an immense amount of time by itself.

As for no deaths, while I don't have it yet, it's hardly impossible. That 100% run I mentioned with 4 deaths is my best attempt, and all four of those deaths were quite avoidable. I will say though that I think the majority of players who have that achievement used backup save files to scum it, or in some cases may have outright cheated(as in, steam achievement cheating, not necessarily in game cheating).

Well to complete the no death achievement with backup saves for me is cheating so kind of stupid cause it is something I achieved. As I had 400 deaths in my first playthrough just thought that it is not possible but if you managed only 4 deats maybe but I think you really have mastered the game and are an excellent player.

I finished the game only one time with 100% and needed more then 12h but hey now the 3h Achievement and no upgrades seems possible. Thx for the advice.

Another piece of advice, especially if you ever relied on the offense ability points, is that once you get Bash, abuse it as your main weapon. Any time you actually need to kill an enemy, such as the "worm" minibosses, reflecting projectiles does far more damage than spirit or charge flame.

Anyway, my stance on the no deaths achievement is people who cheated that do not deserve my respect. It just tells me that they don't appreciate this game enough to actually become good at it, which is sad, because this is if nothing else the finest metroidvania style game ever made, and one of the best games made in the last few years. When I get that achievement, and I will, it will be in a single segment run, free of glitchs, exploits, and save scumming, and I hope others would do the same.

Also, pretty much everyone has a lot of deaths in their first run. I think I had nearly 300 deaths my first time through, a decent number coming from the escapes, but most of them coming from the Forlorn Ruins if I recall. That place more than any other always gave me trouble, it's where my no death runs often fail, while in comparison I tend to do fine in Mount Horu.

I have them all right. Supersonic and elite are pretty easy, the biggest problem with elite was the lack of firepower. Supersonic is similar to immortal in the sense that you have to just get better at it and gradually as you die less you make progress faster.

Immortal... one week I had nothing better to do, so I finished one run of Ori every day*, every time getting further without dying. When I got to Mount Horu with no deaths I was so nervous that I had to listen to Rammstein while playing. I always collected everything I can before entering the Ginso tree, to maximize the chances (triple jump and ultra defense). Also for the sake of completeness I did exit the game once when I saw that there was clearly no escape (no save backups involved).

Here are some advices for getting Immortal:
- Don't concentrate on not dying - it's the best way to die. Listed to some music.
- Avoid instakills where you can (lasers, crushers, the spikes at the spider nest...)
- Collect everything you can as soon as you can except the energy cell with the crushers (I only collected it after I got bash - I used the red spikes to jump there)
- Don't do it in one sitting
- Know the game by heart

* Not in one sitting though. Also at this point one run of Ori lasted little over two hours.

The only realistic way a no death run is possible is via save scumming. Without save scumming, the odds of accomplishing this are like the odds of winning the lottery 10 times in a row.

One the one sitting part, I'd actually argue otherwise. If you stop to take breaks while already doing well, you could lose the psychological and muscle memory momentum you already have, resulting in sloppy mistakes. I would agree though that it's less about not dying, and more about remaining calm and focused, so if music is your thing than go for it. For me, the soundtrack of the game is usually more than enough to fit that criteria, I'd actually say the escape sequences in particular are made much easier if you really enjoy their themes.

Besides that, the idea of collecting as much as possible, as safely and early as possible is sound, but be careful with that. Some dangers may be obvious, but especially if you aren't that familiar with side areas, be certain you know what you can and cannot easily get away with. That 4 death run I mentioned, my first death was to the side area in moon grotto just above and to the right of Gumo's Hideout, where you double jump over spikes to enter and can get a life cell. I made the mistake of thinking I could get it before entering the Ginso Tree, realizing too late Bash was required, and that ended up being my first death.

That being said, don't be discouraged about dying to the point of quiting a run, unless it's like really, really early, because if you keep restarting early on, you're eventually going to get great at the start, sure, but you may start to get worse at the later parts of the game. If you can instead suck it up and just complete the run, you'll continue to get better at the rest of the game as well, which should have the bonus of making you more confident and focused over all.

This is absolutely false. While I do not doubt for a second many resorted to save scumming, it is quite possible to get very good at this game, especially if you have experience with speedrunning other metroidvanias or playing challenging platformers like super meat boy or the more recent rayman games. As I said earlier, I've personally accomplished 4 deaths for a full run, and those deaths were all very avoidable. The Moon Grotto one I mentioned in my previous post, the last laser room of the Forlorn Ruins, messing up the "tumbleweed" laser section in Sorrow's Pass, as well as messing up the equivalent to it in Mount Horu(those latter to just being slightly bad Bash trajectories).

If it seems impossible to you, don't assume it's impossible for others, and definitely don't equate it to luck, when nothing in this game is luck based.

Don't worry dude. It took me about 750 deaths to beat the game for the first time (which is a lot), but I still got every achievement eventually. This isn't Super Meat Boy or IWBTB. Once you complete 5 playthroughs or so, getting the achievements really won't be that hard. For example, even though I was bad at the game at first, I can now beat it under 1h45min every time. The only really hard achievement is Immortal if you intend to do it without backup saves, the other ones are actually pretty easy.

Just don't get nervous when you get to Mount Horu with 0 deaths. And good luck! :naru:

Honestly the best way to get those three is to go for them all at the same time the best way to get immortal is save scumming and the no ability one make sure you dont even open up the ability tree or it may not work
Pancake Nov 22, 2015 @ 4:15pm
I honestly don't see how the "don't die" one is possible (without cheats). I would be interested in a playthrough of someone doing that though!
