That being said, it's personal preference.
Controllers are often a little bit more comfortable but most of the time not needed.
Also, th Xbox 360 controller only costs about 30€ so that is not that much. And also watch out that you buy the game after the Definitive Edition comes out (unless there is a sale or something).
In my opinion bash is easiest to aim with a mouse, then on controller with a dpad and then on a keyboard. And I'm not gonna even bother to practice aiming it with sticks. I personally prefer a controller over keyboard (& mouse) partly because I find it quite difficult to do some of the actions simultaneously but aside from that I don't have any real problems with switching between a controller and keyboard (& mouse).
Honestly speaking there is absolutely no need to get a controller for this game but I can recommend getting one if you ever have some extra money, they often work well with some other games too. I have Logitech F310 gamepad and it was only about 30 € when I bought it and has been working quite well.
Keyboard and mouse is really good, as mentioned, for bash. Best for that by far. Attacking while wall jumping attacking is much, much easier with a keyboard and mouse. It's not so great for charge jump, and it can be awkward to maneuver while clinging to a wall.
The controller is generally more fluid and good for running, jumping, general movement, gliding, climbing, and charge jumping. For me, it's almost useless for bash.
It's perfectly playable with a keyboard and mouse only. You'll probably run into some awkwardness either way, it's just a choice of which awkwardness you get. For my part, I actually switch between the two as the need arises. The game will accept inputs from either one at any time.
