Quick Question about the Definitive Edition
I beat the regular game months ago. If I upgrade to this new version, will all my progress still be there? Meaning, I won't have to start all over again will I??

I just want to get the new version to play the new areas so playing the whole game over again is not something I really want to do.

Thanks.

Yeah, your old save files from the original game aren't compatible with the Definitive Edition. You'll have to start over again, unfortunately. I hope you don't mind too much! Most people finish the game much faster when they play it for the second time, luckily.

The info you're talking about says that you can play the game after finishing it in DE, not that you can transfer saves from the original version.

You have to do everything all over again including achievements.

So are the "new areas" lengthy and worth it? I want them very big for tons of exploration.

Kind of ridiculous in my opinion but whatever.

i heard that they are 1-2h long. I haven't bought the "new" game myself for the same reason
(and because I often want to buy games at a reduced price but that is impossible now...I don't really like that the devs basically tricked me into paying full price for the game)

Toally understand. I don't like that they make you play the whole thing over(which took quite a few hours) just to play like 2 new areas. Pretty ridiculous. I am on the fence about buying this, even for $5.00 because I don't know if I want to spend all the time replaying the same areas over again.

The new areas are optional so I would guess that you can access these areas without completing the game (that is my guess, I have no confirmation about this). I don't know how far you have to play to unlock the extra content.

First area can be done very quickly, right after you get the second skill (wall jump).

First part of new content can be done once you get Wall Jump.
Second one can be done after getting Stomp.

Be honest, how big are the new levels? Is it only small little areas or is it a pretty big wide open place to explore?

Pretty decent size. You can also warp at spirit wells which REALLY cuts down in the backtracking.
