Is Ori and the Blind Forest Post-Apocalyptic?
The recent Will of the Wisps trailer gave me some strong post-apocalyptic vibes. I love stories set in fantasy worlds that are revealed to be a distant future post-apocalyptic earth, like the original planet of the apes or adventure time. Do you think its possible that Ori is set in a post-apocalyptic world?

I do love me some post-apocalyptic setting, but I fail to see how this is one of those... what made you think so?

Well what got my mind going was the trailer for the new game. Although Ori probably isn't set in post apocalyptic Earth, it may still be a post apocalyptic setting. It's obvious some big traumatic castastophe has gone down, especially with the ending scene of the trailer where Ori and Kuro's Kid are standing in front of this massive field of dead owls. There's also the scene where Ori stands in front of a massive abandoned building that looks mandmade, and there's a scene with a burning field with a giant thunderstorm that reminds me of Mad Max.
While there are less explicit clues in the original game, I still think there maybe some hints. For instance, there are tons of ruins and mechanical structures throughout the forest. While I get a lot were built by the Gumon and Gumo, I don't see why they would be responsible for stuff in other parts of the forest, especially Mount Horu, and I don't think the spirit animals built them either. Also a lot of the enimies seem artificially created to me, especially the rock monsters, the slimes, and the things that shoot out fireballs. Where did they come from? Were they biological weapons? I don't think Kuro made them or anything, and I don't think they're a result of the corruption. Maybe I'm just overanalyzing things but it's fun to speculate.

Speaking of the Gumon, they show that there's post-apocalyptic themes in Ori already. The Gumon and their entire civilization were wiped out, and their bodies were scattered through their ruins as a result of the forest going blind. I always thought that section of the game was fairly dark compared to the rest of the game. Maybe it's just one aspect of larger pattern. Idk

Also, there's also lots of ruins that are obviously man-made all over mount horu.
