[SOLVED] "Couldn't switch to requested monitor resolution"

I had this game sitting in my library for a (long) while, and decided to try it today. Installed it, and at first it ran alright. I played for just a few minutes and then exited the game. When I came back, I discovered I couldn't run it anymore, due to the error in the title of this thread, =/ . Every time I try t o start it, I get the following error window:

Couldn't switch to requested monitor resolution

Configuring window with style 80674816
Resizing and centering window on screen
Switching D3D11 to resolution 1360x768 failed, trying lower one
All resolution switches have failed
Screen: DX11 could not switch resolution (1360x768 fs=0 hz=0)


I googled for a solution, and found that people that had this error in other games had to mess with the registry to solve it. Unfortunately I don’t know the registry path to try and do it with this game, =/. So, can anyone please help me solve this? I really want to play Ori, even though this is not the definitive version.

Hi, i can[t play the game anymore since i update to w10 creator update. Only sound.

I solved it! :D And I didn't had to mess with the registry in the end, phew.
For anyone who may find the same problem, here is the solution that worked for me:

Go to Local Disk (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common.
Now select the folder of the game with which you have problems, open it, right click on the game icon and go to "properties".
Now go to "compatibility" and check the "disable full screen optimization" box. Click ok.

Voilà! Problem solved! I had two other games with this very same bug, and fortunately this solution worked for all of them, ^_^ .

I have dual monitors and disabling the second one worked for me.
