Delete any saves you have and turn off all cloud saves, Steam/One Drive, etc. You are trying to sync a 1 year old save with the current version of the game, not gonna work.

Try the following if using Windows Defender;
Click on the defender icon, bottom right.
Select Virus and Threat protection
In the Ransomware Protection section (at bottom), click on Manage ransomware protection.
If Controlled Folder Access is set to ON
click on Allow an app through Controlled folder access, click yes.
Here should be a list of recently blocked apps. Among them you should/may find;
TaleWorlds.MountAndBlade.Launcher.exe
Bannerlord.exe
If one or both are there;
Click on the option to Add an allowed app
select recently blocked apps
click the plus sign next to one, or both of the above files if they are there
It would not hurt to reboot/restart your computer after this.
Solution was to create a new folder, moved the files I was unable to delete into the new folder. Then deleted the new folder with the bad files, no error message. Game launched with no delay.

This is what I found as well, on another site. It was fixed some time ago and I only just now saw the responses to my question. Very rude of me.
However, this is it. This fixed it. I've seen so many others with this problem; I hope they see this post.
Thank you very much, to all that replied. Sorry I didn't acknowledge you sooner.
Hello Elyse,
Unfortunately, this didn't address it. It had to do with old files that were in a sync loop or something. After disallowing OneDrive and purging the files in there, I could re-verify and all was well. I even re-modded the crap out of game again. Great mods out there.
Thanks for your help!
