I did a clean reinstall and went back to 1.5.9, still don't know where my save games are located (haven't looked after the reinstall tbh), but the game is pretty stable now and won't crash anymore when I open the save games menu within the game. It still crashes on a regular basis in battles no matter what I do though. Very frustrating but I run MODs so yeh... but I kinda feel the game needs certain MODs to make it playable and more fun imho. "RTS camera" is a good example, I simple can't enjoy the game anymore without it.
So basically the base game is no option for me is what I am saying.
