Have you ever used mods? If so, make sure they're all gone. ALL bits of them, especially any .dll files that were pushed/installed to the root. Simply untoggling them in the launcher will not work to give you authentic vanilla play as the exe is still going to be looking at what a .dll file tells it to look at.
Check Tech support - There's a couple of files you can delete, that will be reconstructed on launch, that might help. (Can't remember which.)
As always:
Rebooting after a big install helps, sometimes. Also, exiting Steam (Steam-> Exit), rebooting, then restarting Steam can help clear its caches.
You should also check your Antivirus to be sure it's giving Steam and Bannerlord the appropriate permissions. That should be suspect during any "hang" where a process/executabel is being called.
Have you ever played Bannerlord multiplayer? If so, then Battleye installed itself during that play. If it's kicking in, now, when you hit play you will need to adjust AV settings.
If you're on the Beta, you've got a telemetry option enabled and your AV may be reacting to it. Check for that.
Also - When all else fails, check your OS system logs to see if anything stands out as being suspect. (Errors/warnings for Application/System and Security if your computer is responding to Bannerlord Telemetry/Battleye connection attempts.)
thx alot mate; I only had to delete the user folder or documents and game started immediately;
if you are ever in Kiel, beer (or whatever) is on me^^
